The top horizontal parts do look pretty heavy duty but that's probably also just needed to top off the structural aspect of the building in steel. If a spire could fit onto those beams and be supported though sure, is anyone's guess. Hoping so . But if not, this has still been an exciting ride to see a super tower climb from nothing.

Today I had a walk by the construction site and I'm 100% sure there will be a spire. That's because there is something of an advertisement of the building, looking pretty new, and it has a spire. Cannot post the photo, cause I just registered for skyscrapercity, and so I need ten posts to gain this functionality.

Just post numbers 1 to 10 here then the picture, we've been waiting too long and need to know.

I think that structure is quite hefty for a non-spire top. I mean look at the amount of steel there! My vote, it will have a spire.

I have always been strongly in favor of a spire for this building but at this point, I'm just enjoying the suspense of finding out what will happen.

Yes, thanks to Feilipu for taking the pic. Unfortunately, I seem to recall seeing that pic of the completed tower quite a long time ago - it seems to be an old render of the tower.

I would love it to look like like that... I just don't think it will anymore.

Also the old design for tower two is shown in the render, so it is likely a year ir so old....
I don't really get the discussion anyway, we had a lot of sources stating that there will be no spire and no source since then stating that it will be 660m. The reason for the hight reduction were airport issues, why they should change their mind just a few months later? There is not one good hint that there will be a spire in my opinion

don't know about what sources you say, on CTBUH site http://skyscrapercenter.com/building...ance-center/54 all "no spire" souces dating 2011-2012. all official latest renders uncluding spire, but this is not 100% guarantee

CTBUH is not administered by the Project Managers of this tower, so there is a chance that the information there is not always 100% up to date.
About sources, here is a Chinese one:

Shenzhen's tallest building 60 meters short of the aviation industry as a high limit adjustment

"Design of 660 meters, is now 600 meters." Earlier users post, said the original design for the 660-meter-high safe financial center, the final height will be locked in the 600 meters. Southern reporter confirmed the news from the authorities. The height of the "shrink", allegedly because of the high aviation limit due.

[...]

"Nothing else has changed, except, the original antenna withdrawal." Southern reporter was informed that the 60 meters short of the main spire is canceled "antenna", meaning that the body (main tower) of the original design won't be affected.
Official said, mainly because of the height limit due to aviation.

Its a quite bad google translation, but still, you can get the main message that the height limit of 600m will be kept by simply cutting the 60m spire.
Sorry guys.

Sorry guys.
We read this the time it was published, thanks. Nothing new, nothing conclusive. Changes happen all the time. The overflight minimum height was also introduced all of a sudden. It could be abolished with the same speed, if, say, they changed the approach routes to the new airport.
