I think this one will give ST a race for their money. ST has a good head start, but once the steel starts, I think this one will grow really fast.

Hi all.

Great shots Yann.

We can see they are working on the podium floor of B2. By the looks of the drawing posted here B3 is as tall as B2 then B4 and B5 are shorter. Like ST this project has 5 lower levels. Interesting how different projects enumerate levels. This one has no ground level - above B1 is level 1.

Looks like they will continue this top down proceedure untill they finish the podium floor of B5. I presume we will see the tops of piles in the main hole by B4 or B5 (probably both holes). I'm guessing they will pour a raft that will be the floor of B5 then work their way up pouring the levels in the hole.

Interesting method on this project if they do it the way I'm figuring.
We shall see.

Will this building be using RC or steel in the construction? I know it's probably been answered before, but I haven't been able to find an answer.

RC. Steel can only get you so far, esp with the wind speeds at heights over 300m.

Well, the supercolumns will most likely be steel, as supercolumns usually are...

Look at those steel pillars surrounding the basement circle, very irregularly placed! I bet that wasn't by purpose.

this one is building for the company - PING AN GROUP's self-development with their own money, not with tax payers' or the goverment's and PAIFC is also not building for racing and showing off ... no matter how tall is it, it will definitely be a land mark of Shenzhen anyway.. this is not insane. it is called "auctual needed"..

I take it you're new to the English language? The word "insane" can have a positive connotation, referring to things no "sane" (regular) person would do, things are daring and out of the ordinary. It probably stems from famous daredevils such as Evel Knievel, who, compared to the average Joe, are pretty "insane", but really are just very daring people, doing things that "normal" people don't have the stomach for. I hope this post cleared things up for you.

And yes, even with the Burj Dubai in existence, by today's standards such a massive building is still pretty "insane" in the positive meaning of the word.

It's going to be amazing watching the rivalry between this and ST. ST might add a couple of meters to beat the IFC, and then the IFC might add a few more to it's spire and take back first place
