why are they breaking the concrete rings if they wanted to dig deeper why did they take all the time and effort for casting them anyway?

I can't understand this either. Why didn't they just dig it all out in one go and start the hand digging from the bottom

Hi all.

So many proceedural questions on this project.
Such different techniques and different order of steps

It's great.
I'm sure someone has some good reasons for the planning of this foundation.

Why is this building listed as on hold in the SSP diagrams? Is it on hold or under construction?

It's under construction. The photos in this thread should be proof enough. Don't believe everything SSP says.

Hi all.

Hmmm.
This one really makes the one brain cell talk to the other one ...

Like what in tarhooty ....

Now the hole looks like it would had they done the more conventional method of doing the piling before excavating where they only fill them with concrete up to the level they will dig down to later.

1 - They have dug far enough for the short (in height) level B4 with room for a short B5.
2 - There is no rebar sticking up where the piles are and we know from earlier shots the piles do have them sticking out of the concrete. This leads me to believe once they dig down to the top of the pile concrete there will be room for a raft slab.

As with other proceedures used on this project it seems counterintuitive to not just dig around the pile holes as they go at this point. Perhaps they simply want the freedom to move around freely.

Things are moving along at any rate.

At first, I was worried that this is going on hold because of the hidden piles. But looking closer I noticed the concrete ring is fully exposed which indicates they have dug a meter or two from the previous update.

On these last pictures we can also notice that they are removing the small structures with roofs that were covering each of the 8 holes for the mega column.

Someone again changed Wikipedia status to "construction halted" with a reference to SSP. I changed it to "under construction (foundation work)" and added reference to Emporis.com and anothe rreference to this thread naming it "Construction photos at Skyscrapercity.com as of 28 August 2011" and a link to latest Zorg's post woth photos by crazyboyxzy. Does anyone know any more sources where it would actually say that the tower is U/C? Perhaps in Chinese?

Seriously, what's up with those people editing Wikipedia articles? Is it just how Wikipedia works or is someone doing that intentionally?

Hi all.

Hi Pansori.

That's why I don't like Wiki. Any gomer can change it to whatever and add a source that is utter bullshit.

I guess it's use at your own risk ...
