Thumbs up Kerala opens first Peacock sanctuary at Choolannur
Palakkad, Oct 5: The Kerala government today declared open its first Peacock sanctuary, spread over 500 hectares, at Choolannur near here.

Talking to newspersons after formally opening the sanctuary, Forest Minister Binoy Vishwam said the government would strongly deal with forest mafia and encroachers.

Stating that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government always stood for environment protection, he said the present LDF government had confiscated encroached government and forest lands at Wagamon, Munnar and Mangulam.

The government had also declared 35,000 acres of land as reserve forest, he added.

The new sanctuary, apart from peacocks, shelters diverse species of avifauna, Mr Vishwam concluded

No.
This is on kozhikode Road, near to Bridge
Three new projects by Soorya group including one at kalpathy is in pipeline,but the website dont have more info.
