Has anyone got any decent ones of Sydney? No offense but I always thought Sydney's skyline was great, but some of the shots don't make it look as dense as I once thought?

The northside has less green ring intact but still has some at Mt Coot-tha, Ferny Grove, Ferny Hills, Bunya, Bridgeman Downs, Carseldine, Fitzgibbon, Deagon & Boondal. Many of Brisbane's major infrastructure has been constructed within the Greenbelt such as the Gateway Motorway, ANZ stadium, Boondal Entertainment Centre and Chandler Sports Complex - site of Commonwealth Games. j

I should have said Northage is a part of Brisbane unlike many areas of continuous urban development which are not. The top pic is a good example. J

Looks like that was taken from Granville or Merrylands which is just over 20km from the city. Not often we see such photos from that far west

its a major arterial road with service roads. most of it is actually grade separated motorway standard except for the immediate shot above. its ultimate purpose is for grade separation. its the mt lindesay hwy which links brisbane to beaudesert. it turns into a rural highway not far from this picture to the south.

Its the M1 linking Brisbane CBD to Gold Coast. Its 8 lanes and largely followed the old road from Bris - GC that was built years ago - hence not exactly a clean line.
Why did they do it this way? Politics. When Wayne Goss was Premier he proposed a new motorway to the east however there were howls of protests from NIMBYS and Goss lost government over the issue. The Borbidge government (1995-1998) then set about upgrading the old route as a compromise. It is actually an excellent road most of the way but will reach capacity in no time at all. What then? Maybe they can dust off the old plan of Mr Goss. |

Nah Tic, it's definitely Mt Lindesay Hwy given the roundabout, overpass, greenery combo
![]() Just thought that was a rather unusual arrangement for what seems like a relatively light corridor - almost overengineered, and quite messy. Is there a specific reason for this? (I also notice the freeway style overpass further south at Stoney Camp Rd) |
