What is the idea behind the blue and green signs? Also near Jakarta I saw some blue signs lately, but I don't understand yet what the difference is supposed to be.

Also, I think it is strange that they put the names of all those short sections of toll roads on there. For who would it be clearer to indicate all these small sections Kanci-Pejagan (35 km), Palikanci (26 km) and Cipali (116 km) than just stating the road straight ahead is to e.g. Cirebon, Jakarta, and Bandung (and maybe a smaller place nearby such as Pejagan)?

I think it's time for Indonesia to introduce a numbering scheme for toll roads. For example T1, T2, T3, etc. (Jalan Tol).

If the numbering is implemented, I think the signage will be like this

These signs look really cool, the numbering system should be imlplemented in Indonesian roads, so that confusion will be avoided.

well, according to the latest regulation on road signs (link coming soon)
lane assignment sign is considered as a mandatory sign so it's signed blue, and directional sign stays green

Okay thank you, I see how that is applied now. I don't understand how that is useful, though. As in Losbp's first picture, the right lane is assigned to traffic to Brebes, and there is a directional sign for an exit to the left to Bulakamba. The left lane is not assigned however (and considering that the blue sign is mandatory, for Brebes you have to be in the right lane, and it is not allowed to stay in the left lane?).

I think it would be more useful to use the different colours for different types of roads (e.g. blue for toll roads and green for non-toll), as is done in e.g. France and Germany.

Numbering toll roads would be very great!

Confirmed is that parts of the Solo-Kertosono toll road will be open during Idul Fitri:

http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2...struction.html

However, this is only on a heavily limited scale. It is typical for Indonesia to open incomplete toll roads during Idul Fitri to cater the annual exodus from the cities to the villages (such as Ungaran-Bawen in 2014, still needed another three months then).

It will be open temporarily:
- from Klodran, Karanganyar to Pungkruk, Sragen (before Idul Fitri)
- the other way around (after Idul Fitri)
There is also an exit at Kemiri (Karanganyar). There are also some weak spots left so the newspaper warned that one still has to drive at a speed of max. 60km/h and neither trucks nor buses are allowed.

Maybe next year it will be possible to make it all the way from Merak to Tegal, Semarang to Ngawi (with new stretches around Salatiga and Sragen-Ngawi) and from Kertosono to Krian (connecting Jombang-Mojokerto)? Maybe even to Surabaya and so further to Pasuruan and Pandaan if the mosque-gate is solved. Slowly but surely Java's motorway network enters the modern age.

temporary opening of road is dangerous imho, as the road is not ready yet but people will eventually flooding to drive through the road. Just like pejagan-brebes section which was temporarily opened last year with horrible condition, which was not more than a glorified sandy road

A 20 kilometer segment of the Pejagan - Pemalang Toll Road was inaugurated on 16 June. This appears to be the Pejagan - Brebes segment. Is it known when the Brebes - Pemalang segment opens?

Maybe 2 years from now.

Fyi, for now, the toll fare is temporarily integrated with the previous sections of the Toll Road to accomodate the Idul Fitri traffic.

The integration is not temporary, some toll plazas are already been shut off for this process:

1. Cikopo Toll Plaza
2. Plumbon Toll Plaza
3. Ciperna Toll Plaza
4. Mertapada Toll Plaza

It is now divided into 2 clusters, the first one being the Jakarta - Cikampek and Cikopo - Palimanan toll road section and the second being the Palimanan - Kanci - Pejagan - Brebes toll road. All toll roads in the second cluster used to implement open toll system but now it has changed into closed toll system as they integrate the payment system. eTolls are also now active in all of these routes
