Durability is still being the main reason why we still develop new toll roads with concrete (except the new Palembang - Indralaya Toll Road since it runs above swampland), I might also assume that cost reduction and time plays on the decision on why to use concrete; but sometimes you just don't get the best quality of it. One notoriously known toll road for such bad condition is the Kanci - Pejagan Toll Road.

Actually, it has been repaired and repaved. Now the section is gradually up to the rest of Trans-Java tollroad sections. FYI, the toll has been operated under 3 different operators.

First one was the subsidiary of national conglomerate Aburizal Bakrie (PT Bakrie Toll Road) who built the toll in haste, put the highest price scheme he could, and operate it as half-baked tollroad with bump and potholes everywhere. Under heavy criticism and dire financial problem, he sold it to the second operator

Second was MNC Toll Road, owned by another national media conglomerate Hary Tanoe who aimed to improve the tollroad but not much work had been done until Waskita Group took over.

Current operator is Waskita Group under its subsidiary PT Waskita Toll Road who managed to get the job done by heavily repaired the section and repaved it with asphalt to smooth up the abysmal concrete surface.

I had gathered some data of which toll roads were opened past year:

2017 5 Tanjung Priok Timur-Tanjung Priok Barat
2017 11 Kampung Melayu-Bekasi (part 1)
2017 13,9 Gempol-Rembang
2017 18,2 Bawen-Salatiga
2017 20,2 Jombang-Mojokerto Barat
2017 0,9 Kertosono
2017 10,5 Binjai-Helvetia
2017 7,8 Palembang-Indralaya (part 1)
2017 15,5 Waru-Krian

If the kilometers and openings are correct that would mean the total distance of all toll roads exceeded the 1000km-mark on December 19 for the first time (plus 0,5km)

In 2018, and then I just include the Trans-Java projects (motorways to Sukabumi and Sumedang, plus Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi, not included), another 362 kilometer should open totalling 1362.2km. If all goals are reached this year, Indonesia will see their, by far most productive year in motorway opening history (which until now is 145,6km in 2014)

Relieving the pressure on Dutch housing market: we need more apartments and taller apartment buildings, no single-family dwellings anymore!

Prohibit the construction of new single-family dwellings without stacking apartments in Amsterdam (A10), Rotterdam (motorway ring), The Hague, Utrecht (outer ring), Eindhoven (ring), Tilburg (ringbanen) and Groningen (provincial ring)!

And prohibit the use of agricultural land for new dwellings!

There is already a lot of work ongoing on the Elevated Jakarta-Cikampek toll road, which will add a flyover with 2x2 lanes above the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road between KM9.5 (interchange with Jakarta outer ring road at Cikunir) and KM47.5 (West Karawang exit). These two places will be the only exits, so the elevated road can only be used by through traffic from Jakarta to Karawang and futher (and vice versa), and not by traffic to and from Bekasi and Cikarang.

In addition, in 2018 construction will start on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road II South (Japek II South). According to information I have read this would be a totally new toll road parallel to the existing one, about 5-10 km south of the existing toll road. This new toll road would start around Jatiasih (Jakarta Outer Ring Road) and run to somewhere along the Cipularang toll road (between Cikampek and Sadang?).

Thirdly, work has started on the 2nd Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR2) on the southeastern section, between Cimanggis and Cibitung. Work is ongoing at least in Cibubur and Kota Wisata.

Does anybody know of more concrete plans (images or text) for these projects? Both the Japek II South and the JORR2 will run through very densely populated areas in Bekasi, so I am curious where these will be planned exactly (and also where toll gates and exits are planned). Also an interchange will need to be built between Japek II South and JORR2, probably in the Setu area of Bekasi.
