I have no idea how tall it is but as of June 2, 2009 this is what I saw today during lunch.

Also Houston and Dallas have not built anything near the 1000 foot range since the 1980's. Houston has several 400-600 footers under construction which is okay, but bring on the supertalls!!!

I agree, Austin needs some supertall skyscrapers.

Thanks for the pictures ()_T. It would be so nice to live in this building. Downtown Austin has the best night life I've seen anywhere.

I wonder why 682 feet isn't placed into the thread title but only 208m.

Houston & Dallas have world-class skylines, but Austin sure has taken off like a rocket. Good to see during the "Great Recession". Cheers

This page has a nice Fox 7 news story about the building which is now the tallest in Austin:

http://theaustonianblog.typepad.com/

Quote:
The Austonian was featured in a FOX News story last night about construction milestones and amenities the project will offer when complete in June 2010.

Fox reporter Rudy Koski toured The Austonian with Construction Manager Bob Albanese and Strategic Marketing Director Terry Mitchell. Koski reported that the 59th and final floor of the building will be completed on September 17th, two years after construction on the luxury condo project started. Later this fall, the building will reach its final height of 683 feet when the glass crown is installed, making The Austonian the tallest residential building in the western United States.

A couple of fun facts: 55,000 yards of concrete and 5,000 tons of steel will be used to finish out the project.
