The 60's block is ugly but part of the Victoria character. What happens in 40 years time, will we get rid of the glass twin towers too because they'll be deemed unfashionable and too turn-of-the-century?

I like the new development anyway, but would prefer it if we weren't getting rid of Victoria Tower... So what if it infringes on the view of Buckingham Palace? If anything, I think it will enhance it - what with being surrounded by tall glass skyscrapers... it'll be somewhat of a gem in that area. More so than it is now.

I hope this is approved.... out of all the London projects, this one really stands out to me, perhaps because of the extensive renderings. But the design is amazing!

I don't really like it...imposes too much on Buckingham Palace IMO

why should Lizzie get special treatment? just because shes head of state, defender of the faith etc etc etc :P

at one time, monarchy would dig this stuff, its their empire.. its prosperity, now it'll likely get disapproved because its too overbearing on the tower - people need to work and have houses.. I like some of the scheme, like the towers and if you ask me, they should keep the portland tower and give it a clean up/reclad.. lets add salt to the wound and make the cluster even more imposing :P

I think this scheme is high quality and really complements Buckingham Palace in my opinion.

Individually, some of the buildings are quite nice. But the project as a whole is very over-developed. Too dense and overbearing, not enough space. They're trying to cram too much into too small a space. Hope it gets sent back to the drawing board.

Dozens of new renderings here -

Be warned though, they total nearly 7 megabytes in file size!

I agree...I think they look awful. Bland, very corporate, and do nothing to enhance the setting. Mostly just a great bulking mass of midrises

I don't mind Portland House (the hulking big brown brutalist tower there currently)... I think it could look pretty nifty with a reclad a la Stock Exchange.

The developers are being a bit cheeky: they know this would never be approved in a billion years if it wasn't for the fact they are demolishing Portland House as part of the bargain, and they've tried to squeeze as much floorspace out of this 'deal' as possible by chucking up two towers and a few mid-rises.

Overall I'm supportive, I like the form of the two taller towers and its in line with Ken's vision of clusters at rail termini.

Seems like a Barbican for the 21st Century. I love the Barbican development. I approve of this but don't like to see 60's architecture demolished. It is part of london tradition.

So yeah... nice one.

Couldn't resist, sorry

Not sure if there is any activity. I'm sure two 128 towers wouldn't go unnoticed here.
