JATENG cities and towns (out of Semarang and Solo)
This thread is about pictures and physical related developments of other cities and towns in Central Java Province (Jawa Tengah) out of Semarang-the capital and Solo-the 2nd city. Eventually we already have separated special threads about Semarang and Solo in this SSC forum.
The province of Central Java has 6 cities (kota) and 29 regencies (kabupaten). The 6 cities in order of numbers of population are (est.2006): 1. Semarang - 1,500,000 pop. 2. Solo (Surakarta) - 540,000 pop. 3. Pekalongan - 280,000 pop. 4. Tegal - 245,000 pop. 5. Salatiga - 170,000 pop. 6. Magelang - 130,000 pop. Physically they got their city-status because the providence of well-developed urban infrastructures and have significant numbers of urban population.  Beside the 6 cities, there are towns (kota kecil) usually positioned as the capitals of regencies. Recently some of those towns have been developing well and not surprise if one or two will be the serious candidates for the next city of Central Java, i.e Cilacap, Klaten, Purwokerto and Kudus. Magelang, city of Army
Selain dekat dengan Candi Borobudur yang tersohor itu, Kota Magelang juga terkenal dengan sebutan "Kota Tentara" atau "Kota Taruna" karena lokasi AKMIL (Akademi Militer) Angkatan Darat TNI terletak di kota ini, semua perwira2 TNI AD di negeri ini mulai dari letnan hingga jendral pasti pernah merasakan digembleng dan punya kenangan di kota Magelang.
Pemandangan alun2 di pusat kota  Fasilitas akomodasi hotel berbintang 4  Letaknya yang di dataran tinggi diapit gunung2 berapi, membuat udara kota ini cukup sejuk terutama di pagi dan sore hari (25-27 derajat Celcius). ...dan yang tak kalah unik, Magelang memiliki lapangan golf di tengah kota dan juga Taman Kyai Langgeng yg tidak jauh dari pusat kota.

Pekalongan, the batik city
Pekalongan adalah kota ke-3 terbesar di Jateng setelah Semarang dan Solo, posisinya sangat strategis di jalur Pantura (pantai Utara Jawa) yang sibuk oleh lalu lintas dan jalur utama perdagangan dari Banten-Jakarta-Cirebon menuju Semarang-Solo-Surabaya dan sebaliknya.
 Selain terkenal sbg kota pesisir dan kota dagang, dari dulu Pekalongan sangat terkenal dengan produk Batik Pekalongan yang sedikit berbeda corak dan motif nya dibanding dengan Batik buatan Solo atau Jogja.Bahkan MUSEUM BATIK NASIONAL berada di kota ini.

Boyolali, kota Susu Sapi
Kota Boyolali adalah ibukota Kabupaten Boyolali, berhawa sejuk karena terletak di kaki Gunung Merbabu, sekitar 25 km sebelah barat Kota Solo atau 75 km sebelah tenggara Kota Semarang.
Terkenal sebagai pusat produksi Susu Sapi Nasional, kotanya termasuk kecil dan tenang dengan jumlah penduduk sekitar 70 ribu jiwa

yeahh..Magelang is nice small city ! Quiet, a bit cold, peaceful, and clean ! My father was born in Magelang..hehe  and Next week i'm going to visit Magelang !

Gue suka tuh kota-kota kecil di jateng selain bersih juga tidak kumuh
 Gue lupa apa nama kota/desa yang jalannya diapit 2 gunung kalau menuju ke Temanggung...pokoknya kesannya indah banget
