Update, july 28, 2011
- the design of the office tower has been changed slightly
- the design of the residential building has been changed significantly, the tower has been increased in hight to approx. 70m

its official now, the developer tishman speyer just held a conference: construction is about to start immediately after demolition (which began a few days ago).

some facts:

- height of the office tower has been increased again to 170 meters
(initially it was 115m tall, then it was increased to 135m, then increased again to 160m and a second tower was added - a 19 storey, 63m tall residential building)
- the office tower will have 40 floors and 60,000 sq m of office space
- the residential tower will remain as planned (50 apartments, 7,500 sq m)
- 350 parking spaces
- total usable space is 75,000 sq m
- architect is gruber + kleine-kraneburg
- demolition started a few days ago
- construction is due to start immediately after demolition.
- date of completion is december 2013

- height 160m (25m more than previous design, and 45m more than initial design)

KAISERKARREE

LOCATION:Frankfurt, Banking Distrist, Neue Mainzer Strasse

FACTS:

• the site consists of several buildings with up to 10 storeys
• the current occupiers leave the site in october, demolition to follow soon
• the tower includes a 6-storey passage cutting through the building
• public space on the 25th floor (bar and gallery) and on the 36th floor
• office and residential use
• the developer is tishman speyer, construction starts in 2008
• natural stone facade
• despite low height around 90,000 sq m (over 1 million sq ft) of usable space and a much needed filler in the main cluster

But anyway, a nice addiction to the extraordinary growing skyline of Frankfurt.

I don't like the facade, and the composition is not original at all!
BUT a great skyline isn't made only by masterpieces, a good contribution to the main cluster.

Thanks for doing this nice job of starting this thread! (I was just about doing it myself after your hint)

The start for this project seems just to be imminent. Currently there are tenders for the demolition of the old buildings and the excavation pit. Maybe they wait until the Expo Real exhibition in October for the official announcement... Hopefully not!

Probably it's about to change in loads of details, because it's not in calmer waters fo real now. We'll see. Btw: I just like this design, it's bold and a great addition to the skyline - and I'm quite satisfied of looking at (imo) mostly much more exchangeable/boring glass-boxes, like that kinda ones u find shitloads of in every part of the entire universe.

I wanna offer u two more illustrations of the Kaiserkarree - the quality just sucks, but they're showing the buildup situation quite well. Here we go:

erbsenzaehler, my impression is that this project has already entered the port. It's just that noone could notice as they forgot to blow the horn until now. I have no doubt that it will start this year.

I really like it, especially seen in its vicinity. A slight point of critic might be that the side to the park could be a little bit more structered. As it is now it appears a little bit to flat and massive, also compared to its sides. One more edge or set back would be fine, nothing significant. But let's wait for an official render before forming a view on it.

agreed, it's not a masterpiece but the skyline will increase it's density

Frankfurt needs lots of dense midrises. Right no is more a collection of 150-200m towers with low rise architecture in between.

If Kaiserkaree is completed, Frankfurt will have its first street intersection with skyscrapers at each corner. And more is to come.
