It stopped because the anchor tenant decided to go for another building.
An insider says, it will resume within weeks ... whatever that means.

Die F.A.Z. von Heute: Seite 33

Jeah, really cool news, but now in english (sorry, only translated with "Linguatec Translator":

Quote:
"...Still last year the making of the Taunusturms, a 160 m metre high office tower in the banking area, was stopped shortly before the beginning because the tenant had got out. Already this year the client Tishman Speyer wants to venture a new attempt apparently, however. The building scheme in the way to fell stationary trees would be different indicate signals to, under this an application reconciles. The enterprise wants to inform about his plans in the middle of January."

Great news! Let's see how the new plans turn out. Hopefully it gets a redesign. Or they use the old, black design with its nice setbacks. That's be unique for Frankfurt.

I have almost given up hope for this project. Glad to see the progress.

its official now, the developer tishman speyer just held a conference: construction is about to start immediately after demolition (which began a few days ago).

some facts:

- height of the office tower has been increased again to 170 meters
(initially it was 115m tall, then it was increased to 135m, then increased again to 160m and a second tower was added - a 19 storey, 63m tall residential building)
- the office tower will have 40 floors and 60,000 sq m of office space
- the residential tower will remain as planned (50 apartments, 7,500 sq m)
- 350 parking spaces
- total usable space is 75,000 sq m
- architect is gruber + kleine-kraneburg
- demolition started a few days ago
- construction is due to start immediately after demolition.
- date of completion is december 2013

that's what I thought, too. too bad, they decided to build it like that.

I would love the see it from the other side. I hope there is an angled top on the other side too. other than that it's a great filler. also good to see apartments in the banking quarter.

thanks for the pic, newfvgffm

the same question i asked myself, too bad that they presented only ONE rendering, but there are only two options, a quick and dirty sketchup illustrates what i mean:

Option 1:

Option 2:

and i could not resist to play a bit with photoshop, i would have liked it more with a one floor facade structure:

And even better with a slightly higher apartement highrise:

option 1 is quite interesting. option 2 is probably what we get.

I like your improvements. A 60m tall building right next to a 170m tall tower looks kinda weird. it looks so lost among all the other tall buildings.
