it's getting better and better every minute. I hope your source said when we're going to see the design. I can not believe what is currently happening in frankfurt. I don't care if next year the boom is over. the current boom will change the skyline dramatically.

and it's nice that K26 is getting a little brother.

The height increase is great news, now Frankfurt will have 5 skyscrapers (over 150m ) U/C (Kaiserkarree, Tower 185, Skyline Plaza Tower 2, ECB Skytower , and Opernturm) ...

The only thing that I don't like about the new design is that the residential spaces, which were part of the old design, aren't included in the new design, and a 13-story tower instead isn't bad, but I'd have preferred to have the apartments on the upper floors of Kaiserkarre, but i guess Germany still isn't quite ready for mixed-use skyscrapers, but I hope that in the future this will change...
I'm not sure if I'm right, but i heard that UEC (Skyline Plaza ) will be both hotel and residential use , at least on SSP it says that (http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=6370 ).

ECB skytower is on hold. Since they do not want to spend 1.4 billion Dollars one one tower. And the price rose from about 500 million to 800 million and then 1.4 billion they are looking for other firms to make it cheaper...

The Kaiserkarre was about to get redesigned. I know we've read it here or at DAF first if there's anything new, but... Didn't they (Vivico?) intended to propose new renderings by the beginning of 2009? So, when are we going to see something?

I'm still no friend of another glass facade at the financial cluster, but if it's sorta innovative mosaic one, it could turn out pretty nice.

i think THEY (tishman-speyer &commerz-real) wanted to publish renders last october or so... but looks like the project is on hold due to the financial-crisis and declining demand for office-space.

Breaking News!

Despite the crisis, they're still going to start construction of the Kaiserkarre tower by the end of this year!

That's what the Immobilienzeitung tells us.

German article:
Quote:

Good news. One of my favourite projects in Frankfurt and very important for skyline density.

Good that the tower's height has been extended slightly to 160 metres. However, I don't know about the 60 metre tower. I surely do not want a residential tower within the vicinity of the Commerzbank Tower. That's why the scheme to redevelop the old IBCF Tower into a residential building probably failed or is a very stale proposal.

Im not sure Id like to live in a small residential tower surrounded by office tower giants. having said that ... the location is directly next to the park, most apartments, if not all, will have park views.

Im curious to see the new design. in the beginning there was one 115m tall tower proposed for this site, then it was increased to 135m and now there will be two towers of 160m and 60m. too bad they didn´t put the 60m residential tower on top of the office tower

I didn't want to see ANY residential use for the site because it is not zoned for residential use. Why can't both towers be used for offices?

Frankfurt has more than enough offices around its financial district. Some living space wouldn't hurt, on the contrary - it'll vitalize the area! What's wrong about that?
