What's the matter - is Jeanie Little your idol?

Oh and by the way - what you think - care factor of zero.

Not only in Sydney. There are heaps of Asian majority suburbs here. Springvale North, Box Hill etc etc

WTF? Contrary to what you perceive to be reality, most Sydneysiders I know speak highly of Melbourne. Are you quoting from experience or just perpetuating an urban myth?

Did you read my post? I meant Sydney at its entirety as opposed to a few suburbs in Melbourne.

having been to sydney and melbourne a few times at night the amount of people in the cbd seems quite similar... sydney feels busy at night because the streets are really thin, thin footpaths, loud buses, and lots of echos of the buildings

It took me 1 hour to drive 2 km along military road in Mosman one day.

WTF? You again and your bullshit. I would have thought Melbourne would remind people of 100 other cities, not Sydney. Sydney is very Sydneyish if you know what I mean. It has been said that parts of Melbourne could pass as several other cities, just ask Stephen Spieldberg

I agree Sydney is a very beautiful and unique city, especially with the Harbour setting and the city skyline behind it, just beautiful. Watching the QE2 entering Sydney Harbour for me was one of the most beautiful things I have seen. However many people in the film industry have said how the best thing about Sydney is you can get it to look like any other city in the world. I guess that is why they filmed Superman Returns, The Matrix and various other foreign commercials in Sydney. In fact it is not uncommon to see foreign people shooting commercials in Martin Place. I guess that's what is really good about Sydney, you can come from just about anywhere in the world and still feel at home.

Only in Sydney will you always feel right at home.

...and only in Sydney will you find Gateway Plaza. (Sorry, just had to put that one in haha).

That has been our cities angst for years. Melbourne has many diverse split personalities (where else can you find a city with both similarities with Chicago, London and Los Angeles?)

As for whoever claimed Sydney was Australia's only 24/7 CBD? Eh? Why is Clover and her crew always in Melbourne analyzing its aesthetics, activities and pedestrian movement? The most liberal trading hours, for one.

That's not true, actually. For instance in Brisbane, there are people in the city 24 hours - and if we're taking CBD alone, Brisbane's is actually busier at night. In the heart of the city, in and around Queen St Mall, several cafes and bars are open 24 hours (I don't think there are any around Sydney's Pitt St Mall), and there's also numerous nightclubs and the casino, which is open around the clock. Because of this, Brisbane's CBD has people on the streets at all hours; Sydney's is relatively dead at night. Sydney has inner-city neighbourhoods and high streets which are busy 24/7 though, such as Kings Cross and Oxford Street - as does Brisbane, with Fortitude Valley.
