What is that beautiful plant with the purple leaves? Do you have "buck" as slang for your dollar down there, too?

I think that they're phasing the wigs out for the State Councils. Pity in my opinion.

I'll second that! Even someone as lazy as me bothered to go and update his own photo thread.

LOL! You get used to them if you have streetcars or trolleybuses!

I thought that they would bug me but you don't seem to notice them in the city centre - Prahran is low-rise and they are very prominent, it isn't just cables for the trams etc. but there are telephone wires and electrical cables - an orgy of wires I will train myself to ignore them, most of my mates live in Prahran so I will be there quite often.

Chapel street doesn't seem to have too many wires to me; especially compared to some of Melbourne's other streets.
Personally I like the wires; they frame the sky nicely, sort of like a net that captures it and stops it getting too big. Seeing the sparks fly off as a tram trundles by is cool too.

Sorry about the lack of photos lately (all your threads have filled whatever small gap mine may have left), should be rectifying that from now on as we're pretty much fully moved in and now have an internet connection!

Two more skyline shots from my new home starting with a sunset:

I agree, gappa. I like the wires....gives a nice, tight urban feel to the street. I was at a major streetcar intersection the other day and because of this thread focussed on all the wires- usually I wouldn't even notice them!

by the way, "Prahran" is an odd word. What is the origin of it?
