gappa, this is an awesome thread. Why is Australia so far away lol

Maybe I'm mistaken but I'm pretty sure it would be hard to find an old church converted to a business or apartments here in the US. But maybe I'm mistaken.

Great work

I signed up partly to congratulate you on your thread - fantastic!

I spent about three hours last night looking through the images, and really enjoyed your perspective on the places I know so well, and some I've never been to before. Top-notch photography too.

The city looks great. Keep it up!

Thanks guys and a big Merry Xmas to you all.

Sorry I've been very slack lately but it is a busy time of year. Currently I'm working on some photos of Melbourne's Zoo; so keep your eyes peeled.

Phew, I just went through this whole thread. (slow day at work)
I love it! I'm strongly considering leaving Montreal and making Melbourne home when I finish school and it's so cool to see photos of the "real" Melbourne, outside of the usual CBD stuff.
And I know it's been said before, but so much of Melbourne looks like Toronto! Victoria street and Dundas street must have been separated at birth! Melbourne really looks like a (much) more aesthetically conscious Toronto. Could be a perfect city!

I am proud to say I am moving there in March. I went to Montreal this past winter (your summer) and what an amazing city that is. I sometimes found that Montreal had more in common with Melbourne than Toronto did.

Is that lounge really called "Spleen"? I am not sure I would be drawn to a bar named after an internal bodily organ!

Yep. I've never been myself but I have been to the one below it in the photo. Nice little beer garden but I've forgotten the name....Lane's end bar/cafe or something of that nature.

That's a good question Ade. I'll go looking for them now.

Until then how about these from my window?

There is another one almost immediately across the road (behind my back where I was taking the photo), so it seems that they are a pretty successful multinational business.

Although my ability in reading Chinese is very poor, it appears that the Melbourne store doesn't even include the character for tea on the sign.
