Thanks Chris.

Parts can also be smelly and filled with floating refuse though Ali! Though I do believe it's underrated as rivers go.

Here's a few randoms of the beautiful city of Melbourne taken over the last couple of months. The first couple are using the old film FE2 with the 20mm lens - I'm loving it at the moment.

This is a panorama I did from Melbourne's Shrine of Remembrance, our major war memorial, followed by some others of the shrine.

The Birrarung Marr set is my favourite. Some of those shots are just simply stunning.

Originally posted in the City Images, Architecture & Historic themes thread in Ozscrapers.

These photos are of Melbourne from a couple of different high vantage points, I'll leave it up to you to guess where.

Unfortunately the lenses used were quite old and dirty and I haven't managed to photoshop the photos yet, so most of them are a bit spotty; especially excuse the large smudge on some of them. Also the film shots were a little light damaged (film rewind dramas) and are also very poorly scanned so no need to point that out.

Hope you like them....

And these two are from the beautiful Mitchell building on the corner of Elizabeth and Lonsdale Streets. We're looking north.

St. Kilda road really comes into it's own during spring when the leaves on the trees come out.
Beautiful.

Beautiful pictures, however i must say that supermarkets in Australia are not very good when it comes to food quality and choice compared to Europe
especially in regard to frozen food. I have tried pretty much all frozen food available here and they all taste awful

Yeah but our fresh produce is amazing, especially our seafood. Australia is lucky in that it's a large country that straddles a number of climates; we can therefore grow pretty much anything, from bananas to bok choy, radishes to rambutans, pineapples to potatoes. Fresh food is also much cheaper than in Europe too, at least from my experience.

Thanks for all the comments guys!

Really? I have found it to be the opposite.
Especially in London...we only have about 4 brands of washing powder to choose from and no real choice when it comes to milk, only full fat , skim or semi skim but no different brands as such.

Anyway, thanks again Gappa, I will be seeing ST Kilda road for myself in February.

You've got to be kidding me.... A typical Coles is cheaper, bigger, better stocked, more spacious, and has more variety than a typical Italian supermercato... Esselunga as just one example... Italian (continental european in general) supermarkets are the devil's playground, just awful.

Love the pics! Keep'em coming!

Erhmm i don't think you have any idea what you are talking about!!
I have lived in Italy for 15 years and i can assure you that the food
you find in supermarket there is almost gourmet (Brands like Findus, Mulino Bianco, Kinder Ferrero, San Carlo etc are absolutely delicious) Here some samples of products

I certainly cannot say that about Coles and Safeway here
The frozen food is just awful here, it really makes me puke
Not to mention lack of choice and quality when it comes to snacks and Biscuits
The only brand you seem to have for biscuits is Arnott and it doesn't taste that good really

I am not disputing fresh produce of course which is great, i am just saying how bad packaged food is here

One thing that Australia has that the rest of the world does not are "Cherry Ripe" chocolate bars! I would love to be able to buy them here....

Thanks folks!

Cherry Ripes eh TB, next time I 'gambol' over to Canada I'll be sure to bring you a box.

Alright Ali you know I can't refuse you! I've been to the botanic gardens just have to get off my fat arse and post the photos; I think St Kilda is a great idea for a post, it is Melb's most famous suburb after all (except maybe for Erinsborough ). As for the Queen Victoria Markets here are some I prepared earlier:
