These business leaders are our region's future...Cebu's local businessmen are ones who have kept the local economy going and eventually were able to entice the national investors to invest in their city... Naga and other places in Bicol must emulate Cebu!

Concerns over the Ad Congress

If President Benigno Aquino III has not yet made his final choice on who would replace Secretary Alberto Lim as Tourism Secretary, then he should seriously consider appointing Camarines Sur Governor Luis Raymund “LRay” Villafuerte.

Villafuerte is the master of hype. He will certainly give Philippine tourism a big boost.

Look what he did in marketing Camarines Sur or CamSur as he wants it known in its re-branded image. He has managed to give the impression, albeit some say highly exaggerated and not supported by facts, that CamSur has become the number one tourist destination in the Philippines beating the likes of Cebu, Boracay, Bohol, Davao and even Metro Manila.

NIA revives Dato dam project

This guy has been writing negative comments about CamSur lately.

His last article was about why there is a need for a new province to be created fom the original CamSur.

This time he is again tarnishing the province's reputation about allegations of the Ironman Event which CamSur has successfully hosted fo the past three years. The province recieved nothing accolades for the said international event coming from international media, the Ironman International Committee and thePhilipine franchisee.

Not a single negative publicity was heard on Ironman Philippines- until now.

The province has not met any major problem in staging the competition.

This time, he is again maligning the AdCongress that would soon be held in the province. The AdCongress Organizers have nothing but praises for both CamSur and Naga City as competent host for the event.

They never discussed any hotel accomodation problems. In fact in a whole page ad of the AdCongress it statet that there is a lot of rooms in the province to choose from that would accomodate the more than 4,000 ++++ expected delegates.

This is the first time that the AdCongress would be held in a small city like Naga City- the best that this people can do is to wish us luck and be happy that the governor was able to bring the congress here.

The best that this Nueva Camarines advocates can do to help is for the to wait, sit back and wait for the staging of the AdCongress before they judge something that has not happened yet.

Yup! Growth in any so-called figures is not 'development' if it doesn't translate to meaningful and sustainable well-being of the citizens. They can travel by land and fly thru Legazpi which is only 2 hours away. The best thing that some Albayanos can do is to be thankful to CamSur for increasing the air traffic in the province rather than insulting us. Why compare the number for fights to Boracay? Naga by the way is only 8 hours away from Manila.

For investment standpoint, while others are still speculating from the imagined future investments, everything is already here is Naga. From the major real estate developers (Ayala, DMCI, Vistaland, Fil Estate; major supermarkets and malls; SM, Robinson’s; Puregold, 7- Eleven; major food chains, coffee shops; cable services like Sky and Home; even mortuaries and cemeteries like St. Peter and Eternal Gardens.

For Hotel accommodations? Ever wonder how we accommodate the millions of pilgrims during the Penfrancia fiesta? AdCongres would have a little over 4000 delegates. Is there a problem with that?

Poor town rich habitat for vanishing Philippine ducks

The country’s only endemic duck, down to less than 5,000 based on a count made six years ago, now has a safe haven: the fifth-class municipality of Cabusao in Camarines Sur province.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has issued an order declaring a 27-hectare wetland in Cabusao as the critical habitat of the Philippine duck, or the Anas luzonica, which has been under threat from hunting and environmental destruction.

The declaration would give the species, which an international conservation group has listed as “vulnerable,” better chances of survival, according to Environment Secretary Ramon Paje.

The governor of Camarines Sur on Saturday said the main proponent of a move to divide the province is feeding on the feud between him and his father to push for a new province.

Gov. Luis Raymund Villafuerte, in a statement reacting to an Inquirer story earlier, said Rep. Arnulfo Fuentebella was obviously riding on the differences between him and his father, Rep. Luis Villafuerte Sr.

Tourism...oh well the tourism stats strikes back again! If I may ask, do we consider those thousands who attended or required by their bosses to attend regional conferences or meetings as tourists? or those availing of services where it can only be access in that specific locality, are they tourist? then after a tedious process opted to stay for a night or 2? do we count them as tourist? I highly doubt Naga and Cam Sur, as the regional center for tourism needless to say, they come here as a REAL TOURIST
