Here's a picture of a local Milwaukee icon that burned to the ground yesterday. While I'm sure Pizza Man has some great insurance, there's no way to replace the quirky ambiance of this building that lasted nearly half a century. I walked by last night and the East Side (Milwaukee's hip college district) looked like a war zone. It was creepily quiet.

I think it's the exterior of this building that would be forever lost, but I believe you're being too pessimistic about the quirky atmosphere vanishing. (Well, I guess it is too soon after the fire to feel otherwise.)

Milwaukee has some remarkable indoor design talents and a seemingly inexhaustible supply of quality unique custom crafts furnishings, and just plain gimcrack, to cover the walls an ceilings of interesting eat-and-drinkeries. Of course, if they reopen it won't be a carbon copy, but if they do a good job, (and why not?), customers will quickly make it their own again.
The pizza was good too, wasn't it?

Leonardo's (Da Vinci) horse was a sculpture Da Vinci was never able to complete. There are only three such statues have been completed using his plans: one in Milan, one recently put on display in Atlanta, and this one in Grand Rapids' Frederick Meijer Gardens. It is quite a work of art.

Very interesting dome. It's quite similiar to that of the national capitol's. Michigan's rotunda is kind of odd, but not in a bad way, I don't think:

Yeah, the rotunda in the WI capitol is pretty huge, and everything echoes very loudly, irratating actually. The Michigan rotunda is quite good, I love the wood work!

I used to have some real nice pics of the chambers saved but I had deleted them months ago. I did find some recent ones though.

The problem here is these pics of the Senate and House chambers don't show the whole room. The rooms are actually big and gorgeous, especially the ceilings.

That rotunda is just plain wicked! Looks like the Vatican City or something. It looks a lot like Pennsylvania's rotunda now that I see the full view.
