HAMBURG | Projects & Construction

It took a long time before I made my decision to start this Thread

But I think the construction activity in Hamburg is just amazing(not only Hafencity) and so it doesn´t get its attention what it deserves.

I´ll start with only 1 picture....and I´ll need some time to get all the informations and pictures but soon I´ll fill this Thread!

Skyline of Hamburg at the moment

The three highrises in the first picture were finished this year.
Apart of that only the Elbphilharmonie is the only building with some notable height u/c. But there are whole city quarters under construction (in most cases with 3-5 story-houses) respectively their construction sites are currently being prepared.
Also a lot of outdated office buildings are being modernised to make them attractive for the market.

Hamburg is currently full of many "small" projects u/c, which wouldn't generate enough interest on this forum.

A good clue is to make a HADAG boat trip.
Its a part of the lokal public transportation system.

The station Övelgönne is wonderful.

source: Wikipedia.de

The Speicherstadt is a place you have to see

source: Wikipedia.de

From the Tourist information you can get a "Hamburg Card".
It is already a ticket für the public transportation system. It reduce the fee for many highlights in Hamburg also for some restaurants or the Airport bus. You can get it online.
here.

the district St. Georg (Central Station) change it's image at the moment. (since ~ 1999-2000)
There was massive problems with drugs.

Nowadays it's save, there live many artists and gay people.

There are many interesting architecture sites in Hamburg , Novaguy . Does depend on your taste what kind of style you prefer. The rich vintage neighborhoods around Alsterlake with vintage mansions , the cosy Blankenese hood , a former fishers village on the west-side with lots of stairs on a hillside , the recent completed modern Dockland building and many others in the same street, the Water-tower hotel, the interior of some design hotels like "East ", "Gastwerk", " 25 hours " and " side ", the Planetarium at Stadtpark , the world largest park - cemtery Ohlsdorf in the north - side , the city-nord with lots of huge office buildings for 30.000
employees with a collection of 1960 - 1970 buildings, the Kontorhausviertel , Speicherstadt , Hafencity and much more.
