Heading north brings us into the hood known as Country Club. It goes from Shcley Ave to Middletown Rd, with Watts Ave, between New England Thwy (I-95) and Eastchester Bay, with the the Throgs Neck Expwy (I-695). This hood is mostly residential. Originally, it was mostly rural and was used be Native Americans who were fishing there. In 1643, there were riots between them and settlers. Throughout the 1700's, the land was mostly farmland. In 1881, Westminister Country Club, known for tennis, stood here until it was burnned down in 1922. Around that time, Lorillard Spencer created a bunches of houses for the rich and called it Spencer Estates. The 1920's, gave for more developement as the country club burnned down. A number of famous intellectualls, who the streets are named for have been living here. Country Club has been getting a lot of new developement in the post war era.
