There's a video on the website. The tallest observation part will rotate to 190m. Then you can get out and climb the rest of the tower and have your picture taken overlooking birmingham.

The observation pods themselves are just shy of the London Eye. and the gyroride go's 40m higher then the London eye. Do the maths.

Very 70s design. This tower is already outdated before it is even built.

^ Well that's certainly improved my opinion. And I wasn't aware of the Eastside regeneration. Surely this tower would set a precedent and allow 200m office skyscrapers in Birmingham...

You were'nt aware of Eastside? That suprise me a wee bit. Whats shown is only roughly 25% of it. It already includes Masshouse, Venture East, City Park Gate, VerTiPlex, Cuzon Park, Warwick Bar and the New City Park aswell as a new giant student campus.

It's also been hinted that certain developers are approaching the 200m figure on a few proposals but if they come off is a completely different matter.

This is one tower where some plans were up to 60 storeys. This is currently in the showroom at Broadway Malayan. At the moment this concept looks a bit shy of that but room for scope.

Well I know the project name, but didn't really check out the threads in the Birmingham forum so I wasn't aware of the scale of it... clearly it's much bigger than I realised. If the VTP goes ahead, it will hopefully boost the city's image and attract some investors who are willing to fund a skyscraper or two. 60+ storeys would be nice!

well its just been reported by Jones Lang LaSalle that Armani are looking to open up a hotel in Birmingham and that Sheraton or Hilton will be opening up at the 5 star Snow Hill and with future commonwealth and world championship bids aswell as us hosting both the US and Chinese teams before the olympics it seems Birmingham is quite a healthy city for investors to locate in. Not to mention Mr Yeung of Thailand has plans to bring some of the best Chinese restaurants aswell as other major companies and cultural attractions. Its a very interesting time.

Kool Keatz. I dont think you realise that this is a theme park/observation tower. There's no way in hell it can look like the Shard or Burj Dubai. Its probably the best of its kind and will look truly outstanding it its location by the new park.

An eye-sore in the making.

Not only is it ugly, and tiny, but it looks like it came from some early 60's world fair.

Tiny?

Its bigger then the Millenium Eye. Would you climb much higher then 200m?

Its far from ugly, and 60's world fair? Either Holland is working with space age technology or you're taking the piss.

It's ghastly, and tacky to boot.

Who needs those kinds of silly rides defining your skyline, you'll go on them once and then you'll have to look at that silly thing for the rest of your life. Pretty bad trade off. Can't say I see any other cities doing this and there is probably a very good reason why... it looks daft.

Just imagine it in 15 years with the rain stains and dirty windows... it's an absolute eyesore in the making.

It's just tastless, from the messed up proportions to the daggy font they used (btw you don't have to write the name of a tower on a tower, ppl will figure it out).
