East London Walk: Limehouse to Beckton (via Greenway)

PART ONE: Along the canal from Limehouse to Old Ford Lock

Here are some of the sights I came across on my walk yesterday from Limehouse in East London to Beckton. A total journey of over eight miles.

The first part runs along the Limehouse Cut canal and reaches the River Lea at Bow Lock and Three Mills.

Part two shall continue on via Greenway, a cycle and walking path through industrial and urban areas including parts of the Olympics 2012 regeneration area.

PART TWO: From Old Ford Lock to Beckton via Greenway

This part of the walk follows Greenway as it winds through East London including parts of Stratford and Newham. Initially very quiet and rather deserted, the path got busieronce the local schools finished for the day. There's something here for everyone with graffitti, dereliction, brutalism, council tower blocks and more!

The warehouses seen in the first few photos are in the area which will be given over to the Olympics park and is an area that will look completely different in just a few years.

Hope you enjoy.

I've taken some new shots of the Olympic Park village under construction. For reference, the Greenway pathway runs just behind the main stadium as seen on the poster.

Interesting to see these off the beaten track areas of London. I will move this thread to the new section Urban Showcase for original photographs.
