It equates to 70mph - the speed limit for dual carriageways and motorways in the UK, so I think it may be a hangover from then.

The pictures show a bit of 'creep' into the former UK standards of signage. Helvetica fonts are noticable on quite a few signs instead of transpot font for example.

Ok 110 km/h is fair enough I guess.

So that means 120 km/h on vehicle speedometer would still be allowed (speedometer will always indicate speed lower than actual)

Great pictures! Even if speed limits are rather low in Hong Kong, people there still drive like crazy.

Hong Kong-Macau bridge opening delayed 1 year to end of 2017. Read in the forum of bridges. Sad... Well mega projects need mega time.

Few pictures that I took 2 weeks ago from the bus that took me from Hong Kong Airport to Hong Kong island, on this route.

The bridge to Macao under construction:

I will get back to this bridge later.

In the back you can see the 2 tallest buildings in Hong Kong:
- left: International Commerce Centre (ICC) at 484 m (9th tallest in the world), located on Kowloon island
- right: Two International Finance Centre (IFC) at 415 m, located on Hong Kong island

After arriving on Hong Kong islands, the motorway goes above the city streets:

Great photos

Hong Kong is very scenic, but reportedly outrageously expensive to live.

Hong Kong is a great place to visit. I found it expensive, but not more expensive than large European cities.

As a tourist you don't really experience the real cost of living in such cities. Sure, restaurants or transportation may have their price, but you don't experience the monthly rent, utility bills or taxes.

Few more pictures that I took in Hong Kong.

There is currently under construction the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge, a series of bridges and tunnels crossing the Lingdingyang channel. With a total length of 50 km, and a cost of 10 billion US Dollars, it's one of the major infrastructure projects ongoing world-wide. It is due for completion in 2018. More information can be found on Wikipedia.

Bonus: picture of the same bridge nearby Macau, taken from the airplane while approaching Hong Kong:
