We need something like this. If anyone have an extensive list, PLEASE bagi bagi !!!!

Most of buildings I like in Indonesia apparently designed by foreign firms. Please prove that Indonesian architects & designers can design somethng sophisticated instead of the usual fare of gaudy 'Sinetron' houses.

PT. ARMEKON REKA TANTRA Jakarta, architects and interiors

I used to work with that architectural firm during my student days, it was owned by late former General LB Moerdani (Soeharto's man) and an Australian-Melbourne architect...
Some (quite) famous local architects from this firm : Bambang Eryudhawan (currently Chairman of IAI Jakarta) and Maman Rahman Samadi (prize winner of some latest design competitions)

Some prestigious projects which I involved: 32 storey BIMANTARA Tower, Jakarta Pusat, 2 towers apartment blocks at Gatot Subroto, One of BI towers at Bidakara complex, 22 storey bldg.

then I quitted and back to campus just right before the economy crisis 1997

This firm was created to serve Soeharto's crony projects, so most of the clients were VIP and mysteriously classified or covered till now... I guess the firm immediately closed following Soeharto's collapsed...

...dunno if now the firm still exist or went bankrupt

Yea a few of them don't work, I thought they're currently in progress. Maybe.

To be honest I'm pretty blind when it comes to the industry (architecture and interior design) in Indonesia. That's one of the reasons why I wanna compile a list, so I know where I'd go to when I come back :p apologies for the selfishness.

I know there are some foreigners based ID companies in South Jakarta. I'll come back when I remember the names.

but it's actually foreign owned and masterminded. its like saying mcdonnald in jakarta is indonesian just because they sell food in indonesia.

Geoffrey Bawa is one of founding fathers of Modern Tropical architecture (along with some South American ones). He was of Sri Lankan origin.

He mixed mid century modernism with asian tropical architecture. Most of 'hip' resorts you see in bali nowadays wouldn't exist without him.

it's quite poor... that great local Indonesian architects that we ever had i.e late F.Silaban and late Romo YB Mangunwijaya...

since both were talented and their designs are well-recognized ..it's ironic that they never established nor inherited great architectural firms...
