Longest stretch of motorway without exits
This made me curious, 47km is a pretty long distance. In the Netherlands the longest stretch by far can be found on the A7: roughly 30km between exits 14 and 15 with the afsluitdike in between.

Excluding junctions, rest areas and toll boots. 71km, Italy, A1 between exit Ponzano Romano and exit Valmontone near Rome 51km, France, A5 between exit 18 and 19 48km, France, A28 between exit 15 and 16 3)Longest isolated motorways (not in any way connected to any other motorway) 23km, the Netherlands, A31 between Harlingen and Leeuwarden 4)Longest straight stretch: 22km, the Netherlands, A7 on the Afsluitdijk maybe more? That can be a category too, the longest stretches between gas stations.
We could also add longest straight stretches, longest 3, 4 or 5 lane stretches, curviest stretch, etc.

The Eastlink motorway project in Melbourne will be 45km long including entrance points at each end (39km above ground) when completed sometime next year in 2008. It is Australia's largest ever construction project and on budget will cost $2.1 billion AUD ($1.8 billion USD). You can check out the official website with great info and photos: http://www.seita.com.au/html2/home/home/index.htm and the wikipedia site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EastLink%2C_Melbourne
It will have two 3-lane tunnels that are 1.5 kms long (they have already been built) and a 4 level 'spaghetti junction' at the intersection with the Monash Freeway. It continues non-stop across most of eastern Melbourne, running almost directly North-South. It has 16 major interchanges and there will be one million trees planted along the entire length of the motorway. It's big, very big, and will add a huge deal to eastern Melbourne. ![]()

A whopping 71km on the italian A1 between exit Ponzano Romano and exit Valmontone. This might be the one.

59 km on the German A6 near Mannhein, but disputable because it has 2 cloverleaf junctions with Gelbe autobahns which have a exit number instead of a name.

Those "other highways" have all exits quite close to respective intersections. It is very close to Rome, after all.

@X-type:
but you have to change to the other motorway if you want to take an early exit. Stay on the A5 and you can't get off it for the next 51km. BTW, I don't think the A28 will get much more exits, that particular area is sparsely populated |

. And: every real Autobahn exit in Germany should have a name and a number. I don't know any exit which doesn't have both.I guess the longest strechtes without exits / interjunctions can be found in low-populated north-east Germany. I will look for that
