If we ask to increase the number of seats for Coimbatore in Kanniyakumari Bangalore Express for that also Railways will reply its meant for people of Eranakulam.

But they can decrese the number of seats for Coimbatore and increase for Kerala as if they forgot that train was originating from Coimbatore for nearly 10 full years.

Even though only few trains are running from Bangalore to Coimbatore none is really benefitting us.
This train was running as SBC - CBE intercity express when introduced, later extended to ERS. Protests should have done by the time itself.

CCI opens two cotton depots in Tamil Nadu

http://www.fibre2fashion.com/news/te...?news_id=93613

Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) had opened Sales Depots for cotton in Coimbatore and Rajapalayam in the State of Tamil Nadu with effect from 8th February 2010.

The Government of Tamil Nadu has exempted levy of 4% VAT on cotton bales sold from such sales depots. The Scheme extends various benefits to the textile mills which include inter-alia availability of quality cotton at the door steps of the mills; saving in costs due to reduced need to maintain large inventories; savings in lead time, interest and carrying charges etc.

Opening of sales depots at Baddi (Himachal Pradesh) and Ludhiana (Punjab), has been approved, subject to the exemption of 4% VAT from the respective State Governments. This information was given by the Minister of State for Textiles, Smt. Panabaaka Lakshmi in a written reply in the Lok Sabha to a question raised by Shri P. Viswanathan.

The Minister further stated that the benefits under the Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme are available to the small and medium spinning mills in the country.

Tiruchi engineering park invites Coimbatore industries

COIMBATORE: G.K. Industrial Park in Tiruchi has invited engineering industries in Coimbatore to open facilities on its premises.

S. Senguttuvan, Chief Executive Officer of the project, told presspersons here on Wednesday that the park was developed on 600 acres on NH 45 and would have 180 units.

The project was commissioned last month and in two years, it was expected to generate about 10,000 jobs. Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services was a major investor in the Rs. 200-crore project. The Union Government had sanctioned Rs. 60 crore for the project under the Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Scheme.

Tiruchi had a large number of units manufacturing equipment for the power sector. Industries involved in automobile sector, electronics and engineering could open facilities. The park had built-to-use sheds, common infrastructure for laser cutting and testing, a skill school and pollution control board clearance for orange-category units.

Road shows were conducted in Madurai, Karur, Puducherry and Tuticorin and meetings would be held in Chennai too. “We are expecting at least 10 units from Coimbatore to expand or relocate to the park,” he said.

Two weeks back, survey was conducted in Thudiyalur area. Contrary to earlier alignment, it seems the ring road will meet MTP road at Viswanathapuram between Venugopal hospital and Thudiyalur.

Senegal calls for strengthening ties with Indian textile sector

A compilation:A. Sakthivel, president of the Tirupur Exporters' Association, (fourth right), releasing the souvenir of Global India Textile Show organised in Coimbatore on Saturday. Moustapha Diouf, Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal, (third right) receives the first copy.

COIMBATORE: Ambassador of Republic of Senegal Moustapha Diouf has called for strengthening the partnership between India and Senegal in the textile sector.

Speaking at the inaugural of the second edition of the two-day Global India Textile Show here on Saturday, he said the West African country gave importance to the textile sector.

It was a cotton-growing country. However, cotton production was now declining and it was looking for assistance to improve the textile sector.

A 15-member delegation was here from Senegal to participate in the buyer-seller meet. “We believe we can develop partnership with the Indian textile exporters. This is an opportunity for us to get more assistance from India for capacity building,” he said.

He hoped the private textile sector here would help develop the textile sector in Senegal.

He invited the Indian textile entrepreneurs to visit Senegal to strengthen the partnership between the two countries.

The buyer-seller meet at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex was organised by the Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council and was supported by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industries under the Market Assistance Initiative. It had over 100 stalls by weavers from across the country, displaying fabrics and home textile products. About 100 buyers had come from the U.S., the U.K., Italy, Turkey, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Gambia, Syria, Sweden, and Malaysia.

Speaking at the inaugural, A. Sakthivel, President of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations and the Tirupur Exporters' Association, said the powerloom industry was strong in India. It supplied fabric for garments and made-ups exported to other countries.

“We supply fabric to all international brands,” he said.

Consul General of India in Gambia, Ram Mohan, said the fair was an opportunity for India to become a major textile centre. Bharatkumar M. Chhajar, Chairman of the Council, said overseas buyers usually went to China to source their fabric needs. In five years, India would emerge as a major supplier of fabrics.

Pawan Kumar Jain, vice-chairman of the council, said Coimbatore was a major textile region in the country and the buyers would be able to source fabric at competitive prices here.

M.S. Mathivanan, Organising committee chairman, said buyers will interact directly with the fabric manufacturers here. Indian weavers had the ability to produce fabrics of good designs in smaller quantities too.

Coimbatore hosts Global India Textile Show

he second edition of the Global India Textile Show (GITS) began in Coimbatore.

The two-day show has been organised to promote small entrepreneurs, by the Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL).

The chairman of the organising committee of the Show, M S Mathivanan, said that the exhibition would provide global exposure to Indian entrepreneurs.

"This is the second edition. The manufacturers from all over India have exhibited fabrics here. By organising this export will increase and it will provide employment for Indian weavers particularly," said Mathivanan. e further expected that the show will bring around business of 10 billion dollars during 2011 and 10 percent of the business is likely to increase by this show.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal, Moustapha Diouf, said this exhibition will strengthen the partnership between India and Senegal.

"We are in the process of recovering many of our textile industries having problem. That is the reason why we believe that India can be of great assistance. As an ambassador, I would like to take this opportunity to thank India for all the assistance given to my country and I believe that from the outcome of this meeting we can strengthen our partnership," said Diouf.

The two-day event is supported by the Ministry of Textiles, under the market assistance initiative schemes of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, with participation of representatives from about 35 to 40 countries, besides nearly 150 international buyers, buying agencies, importers and 200 exhibitors.

Turkey has sent the largest contingent of 21 participants.

The first edition of GITS was also held at Coimbatore in March 2010. (ANI)
