Wow, didn't know there were such a lot towers like this. Some are still existing and pretty tall! I thought 97m !

Swiss Re is a nice tower, but in my opinion too obvious visible in the skyline, like a child screaming for attention. Without that stupid dark stripes I would like it!

Yeah somehow there are a lot of towers like that...I don't dig the swiss re in london too.
Also in Barcelona I saw something very similar...and with led like on it!!! I know many might like it but I...well I frankly see a lack of respect for the wonderful modernist city of Antoni Gaudi y Cornet...

I would like SwissRe when it was some more neutral and transparent.

Bologna in middle ages (Romanesque, classical style yet not "hyperdecorated" like baroque or gothic)

By the way, this picture reminds me 1930's NY
Wow, it looks amazing

I agree, the twin towers were very dull buildings. The only impressive thing about them were their height for the era. This has nothing to do with any disrespect for 9/11, before anyone jumps my shit, but they really were just giant boring boxes.

I guess I don't like Swiss Re or Barcelona's skyscraper because their shape reminds me something else, it's like a fastidious deja-vu feeling...their shape reminds me the fashinating world of cucurbitaceae, or even a *****, not the world of art or architecture. I find useless this "citationism" in architecture, but still I'm aware many, probably most of the people loves those building, so I'm ok with that. I love pluralism

My "favourite" ugly building in Vienna is the Ringturm:

I think so.

This would have been the ugly skyscraper to end all ugly skyscrapers. Image credit goes to wikipedia.org.

And so does many "contemporary" buildings. IMVHO they're just boring different
variations on the same subject, twisting and twirling once and again here or there. Not so imaginative, really, just photoshoppical distortions. Were it mathematics, I would say topology remains the same, just some exterior operation on the surface. But the cucurbitacae/piramydal archaetypical shape is always there
