Sorry for generalization, but yeasterday's banner reminded me of this city. I hate this kind of postmodernism. Kitchy architecture, poor urban planning...

WTF?!?! Those are amazing... Do you want ugly buildings? Look at all the crap they have in NYC

But I must admit that China has also some ugly towers too

New look..?
1. Not Mesna ("meaty") but Mestna vrata (City gates)
2. Actually it was built in the 80s, so many office high-rises were erected before.
3. There's no renovation of the building planned any soon, but the construction of two new towers nearby to complete so called urbanistic plan of Northern City Gates.

Yes western europe is filled with these pretentious commie blocks with a brillant "innovative" design:

Here you are some examples from my country, enjoy!

Scampia, Naples, Le Vele:

The Aeternal City (in the suburbs, obviously not in the ancient city center) has some marvellous example too!

Roma, Corviale:

Genoa, this one is Really Huge, it ruins the view of a whole hill:

just moving some km west, we're in Villeneuve Loubet, France, when I once spent my holydays...and found those buildings facing the beach... :S

As I said, Europe is filled with these experimental blocks of buildings...

These buildings may have good views from the top, but they are very ugly. Good examples.

There are some outside Europe as well...

Here is one in Montréal, Québec (the former Olympic village of the 1976 games), btw it was designed by a French architect and to me it looks like the example of your last pic (the "Marina Baie des Anges" in Villeneuve Loubet, France):

It seems there are a lot of buildings really similar in the whole world, then! I supposed was liked to the fact that italy and france were the countries in EU with stronger socialist-communist roots, but Canada destroys my theory. Be careful of that architect when you see him walking in your city!

Some buildings in the previous page remind me of this building in Cullera, Spain:

I love all these buildings !
Here is another of the same kind, in a suburb of Nantes (all pics were taken by me some years ago) :

Other pics on this thread :

This building was the largest social housing block at the time of its construction (1968-1972) with about 900 flats.
