In just a few days, we may have the designs for Brum's next 100m+. Also, we may not.

What's the story with this VTP200 tower? Is it a serious possibility? It would become a major UK landmark, without doubt. Maybe even a European landmark.

I'm not sure if I like it personally, but it's damn impressive!

Well, no one knows the developer as the fire station itself is still for sale. This could well turn out to be a vision but there is still a good chance of a tower of sorts being located on this site. Early days.

It is a serious possibility. A planning app is to be submitted next month, according to the developers. So it is a serious possibility!

Ok well the Natwest Tower is 28 floors tall. Well over 100m. Design will be showcased tommorow but chiefs at British Land seem very chuffed with it.

British Land reveals plans for Colmore Row scheme in Birmingham
14:25 | 08.10.07

British Land has appointed architects for the £160m redevelopment of the former NatWest building on Colmore Row in Birmingham.

By Laura Chesters

Architects Hamiltons is working with British Land and will unveil the plans to the public at a week long exhibition starting tomorrow.

British Land bought the 280,000 sq ft building for £25m in January and will lodge a planning application later this year for a 28 storey building. It hopes planning permission will be granted in the spring.

The ground floor will include some retail and leisure units.

Robert Samuel, a director of British Land, said: ‘A great deal of work has gone into the sustainable design of the building. We want it to be a landmark not only in terms of its location and size, but also in terms of the quality of design and Green credentials.’

And Elizabeth Kinoke did some spy work and manage to snap the model through the window to the banking hall. Considering the building next to it is 45 metres (give or take), people are estimating that this could quite possibly break the 150 metre barrier which is exactly what this location needs.

Some people are even saying that it could hit the 190m mark but I kinda don't believe that myself. Woody says it's about 150 metres according to his calculations or impressions.

Office towers will be a welcome site to our cities, not since the 60's and 70's have he had proper office towers being built.

This should be good, looking forward to 1 Hardman Square in Manc soon too!

I agree. What are the height predications for 1HS? I remember hearing around the 200 metre mark.

That's the current building. The models we are to see tomorrow are of the building's replacement to be built by British Land.

No idea, it's still very hush-hush at the mo, but could be anything from 135m-200m, who knows!

So, it could end up being a midrise block? Well fingers crossed for the magic 200m mark!
