Nice one - BTW I'm basing Westfield Nottingham opening in 2012 on the fact that it will take 3 years to build and will actually start in 2009 (rather than Autumn 2008). I'm only guessing of course.

Isn't that what Westfield use as their naming convention for shopping centres? Westfield - then the town name?

You mean, they're going to have three shopping centres in 2012 instead of just two?

What he means is they may (more than likely) rename Broadmarsh to Westfield Nottingham. Though given the historical importance of the name I think many will protest that. Westfield said they haven't made a decision yet but were considering it. As soon as they said that there was an article in the post the next day about all the people against the name change.

The original name "Broadmarsh Centre" sounds the best. Why change it to something shitter?

Shouldn't this discussion be on the Retail Floor Space In Nottingham and Leicester thread? Or one of the Notts Threads

Lightbulb CACI report into Leicester's retail, February 2007 - a very interesting read.

This is CACI's full report from this year about Leicester's retail, commissioned by Leicester City Council:

CACI Report on Leicester's Retail Circuit

It specifies a 'gap in 'Upper' premium clothing retailers', which is what we are trying to get at and even more interestingly it says the provision is needed for Haymarket/Humberstone Gate (including leisure!) as Highcross is being developed - again what we have been discussing.

It proposes a 'high-end premium zone' at Market Street to increase footfall from Highcross to there.

Yes interesting read. (well i skimmed through it anyway) Trying not to sound like a sad old dad. What i would like to see in the so called poorer areas, ie Humberstone gate/Haymarket is more for young kids.

Fed up with just Mc Donalds. Whats needed are bigger down to earth family resturants and soft play centres like Bumpies and Wacky Warehouse.

Dont Know what my acorn profile is ? Sad old dad category ?
