Are the carriages fixed to the line, or can they be "snapped-on" at any time?

In order to alleviate the overcrowding on line 1, Metro de Caracas will put into operation a fleet of 48 new trains next year and augment the subway system’s passenger transport capacity by 30%.
Some pics posted by Venezuela Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MPPTC) showing the first train built in Spain by CAF and it will be delivered on January 4, then after 3 months of testing it will released for commercial operations on April.

The new trains are much better than olds.

Caracas once also had a good tram network. Tranvías Eléctricos de Caracas began testing its Stephenson cars in October 1906 and inaugurated the city's first electric tram service, between Las Flores and El Valle, on 15 January 1907. Other routes were constructed gradually. But the bad patch started during forties. By the 1940s Venezuela was swimming in oil and its capital had grown to enormous size. Gasoline was cheap. Tiny trams running on single track in narrow streets could no longer provide adequate transportation and were replaced, one by one, by buses with combustion engines. Tram 42 took its last trip to Paradise on 2 September 1941. The tramway system closed completely on Wednesday 13 August 1947. All the vehicles were scrapped, but rails were left in the streets and some remain there today. Ferrocarril La Guaira y Caracas closed in 1951. Ferrocarril Central pulled up its rails in 1953. Gran Ferrocarril de Venezuela stopped running trains to Valencia in 1966. Caracas was without rail service of any kind for 17 years, until Metro de Caracas opened its first line on 2 January 1983.

Can anybody post here photos of some remains of former tram network?

www.urbanrail.net says that Caracas has 4 metro lines, but Wikipedia says it has 3 lines; line 2 & 4 is called jointly as line 2. Which is true?

Today it's hard to find remains of old tram network because most of the tracks has been buried under asphalt or demolished after 50's. Perhaps on Old Railways in Venezuela thread (in spanish) you can find some pictures.

In fact, Caracas have 4 lines of metro. The transport company officially recognize Capuchinos - Zona Rental section as line 4 on maps but it should be shown as Las Adjuntas - Zona Rental because trains make stops from those stations.

I’ve some questions (arose after viewing some websites). Please answer one by one –
1) Will line 3 be extended from La Rinconada to Zoologico?
2) Will there be a branch of line 3 from El Valle to San Jose via Udraneta?
3) Will line 4 be extended from Zona Rantal to Parque Del Este via Chuao and Tamanaco?
4) Will there be a new line 5 from Santa Ana to El Hatillo via Chuao and Tamanaco?
5) Will there be a new line 6 from La Urbina to Los Magallanes via Udraneta, Agua Salud & Gato Negro?

This is the former tram map, compared my present metro map. Note the former tram line was not so much expanded like today’s metro.

Line 1 is almost following former tram route from Petare to Plaza Secure.
Line 2 from Capitolio to Maternidad was served by previous tram.
La Bandera & El Valle of line 3 was formerly served by tram.
Line 4 from Nuevo Circo to Capuchinos was also served by previous tram..

Here is the last tram of Caracas.

A tram tunnel (see map) in Las Flores -

The tram tunnel as today -

This map confuses me. It shows there is common alignment between line 2 & 4 from Capuchinos & Mamera. It means metros run El Silencio to Zoologico and from Zona Rental to Las Adjuntas. This map also shows the extension of line 4, and two future lines 5 & 6. But www.urbanrail.net shows line 2 & 4 are separate, and line 4 will extend more eastside, following eastern side of shown line 6. Which plan is really true? Please clear.

I’m amazed to see many cable car connections with metro lines. It is necessary for a partly hilly city like Caracas.
