There has been an accident at the construction site of Tamanaco station.
Apparently an outrigger of one of the two cranes sunk into the ground which sent the crane tipping over, damaging a nearby building. The other crane was pulled down by the 60-ton piece but one outrigger beam could prevent it from going all the way into the pit.
Reports say that 2 are injured but nobody died.

The trains are related, see "Michelin-Alstom rubber-tyred family" here. The relationship may also have affected the stations.

Caracas metro does not use rubber tyred trains. Aren't you confusing it with Santiago perhaps?

It´s said, the first seriies of Caracas metro-trains are based on a 1970s concept for Tehran-Metro which got on hold because of the revolution there. Sounds reasonable, but never found someone to confirm this.

There are plans for a Line 6 of the Caracas Metro, which would run parallel to the existing Line 1 from east to west slightly further north. Sorry if this has been already been mentioned in this thread.

Also proposed for development in the future is a new suburban rail line stretching from the east of Caracas eastwards to Guarenas and Guatire. I think half of the entire route will be underground in mostly bored tunnels, and may have around six stations. I first found out about this proposed line when I saw this video of it on YouTube.

Caracas metro welcomes refurbished trains
05 Mar 2015

VENEZUELA: The first refurbished first-generation train has entered passenger service on Line 2 of the Caracas metro following six months of work.

The oldest trains on the metro, built by Alsthom Atlantique, date from the early 1980s and have run for more than 3 million km. The entire fleet is to be modernised at a cost of US$1·8m per train.

New components include traction and mechanical equipment, bogies, electronics, air-conditioning, seats and driver consoles. The bodywork has also been repainted
