Lol, if a tennis ball fell of that high, I wonder if it'd leave a crater on the ground XD

To be exact, it'd just reach terminal velocity! Lol! Amazing building and to think most people thought that the BD was mind-blowing. So when do we move this behemoth out of "Proposed"? The start of piling?

China being such a HUGE country and being with NY THE country of skyscrapers, I guess they do not want to build a tower capable of competing with Burj Khalifa in terms of height, owing to Jeddah's pharaonic project, I'm fairly sure that China will actually aim to build a similar size tower (slightly taller), that's my opinion...

No mate, I don't think I'm wrong, I'm merely stating a fact. Now, don't get me wrong, I also think that Kingdom Tower is a fantastic project & I look forward to seeing it rise!
Its all over the media now !

Burj Dubai will soon be history a dwarft again by a 7 star hotel tower in China.

China plans to build $1.3bn 'seven-star hotel' .

The tower will not reach 1600meters. The tower will be 1100m.

End why? Because of problems with the underground. Intensive soil testing is done and they have to scale back the initial height of "the mile" with 500 meters.

In May 2008 MEED reported that the project has been scaled back. It could be "up to 500 meters shorter" the article stated. Soil testings in the area recently delayed the first phases of the project casting doubt over whether skyscrapers of significant height can be built in the proposed location.

Why don´t they built the tower some kilometers next to the plot? Where they have no problmes with the ground.

This is really insane. Before the Burj Khalifa the tallest building was the Shangai World Financial Center with 492m. A decade after it's completition the tallest building will be over a km. That's just insane where the buildings rise nowadays. This is an absolutely thrilling era to live in for a skyscraper lover

SWFC has never been the tallest building...
T101 (509m) was built before.

edit: "Tower residents and visitors will occupy 160 floors within the tower." may this mean the other floors are used for other stuff? then its more than 160 floors
