From an economic point of view it doesn't make sense at all to build a skyscraper that tall. It's sickening to see how money gets wasted this way. That money would be better spent on education and infrastructure in second and third world countries!

Seems like the Saudis felt adressed after following the übermassive Nakheel Tower proposal

The new design is great actually, fantastic, its simple and elegant! A much better design than the previous which was a typical science fiction-vision.

Prefer this design to the previous one where it had 2 smaller towers on either sides of the tower. The exterior is featureless and looks a bit too thin, but like it. We should be expecting more renders or photos of this tower later on...

But I'm also dying to find out the exact height of this tower, although we're expecting around 1150 metres.

Nakheel is keeping close eye on this one for sure.

Don't like it. It looks too plain and boring, will look like a needle from a great distance and not a building. The Nakheel Tower looks much more appealing to me at least.

The thinner and taller you get a scraper the better it looks. However, building that tall and that thin make me question what kind of brilliant technology they are going to use to bring up people, water and so on.

Might of course be that the renderings is faking it thinner than it really is supose to be.

And that is one of the most boring desing i've ever seen. And its for wtb I just gess that must be an answer for nakheel. They've seen nakheel tower sit for about 5 minutes and "create" this one to have something to show

I have two questions for you guys:
1. Can somebody translate article for us please?
2. Isn't mile tower now oficial something around 1100m ? Or it is again one mile high?

A. It's not very creative. In fact, it's bland and boring.

B. I don't care for towers with spires that are 20% or more of the total height of the building. Not only do they look like cheap attempts to make the building more prestigious, but they look stupid, "fake" and shorter at night because the windows at the top do not light up.

Something that requires so much time and money should be more inspirational and creative.

I wait for more renders before I judge it, but it looks elegant. if the design is like I imagine, a square at the bottom merging into a tube shape then I quite like it.

It doesn't look like a mile high tho, more like 1000 meters

Some renders are coming up for the competing tower in Jeddah.

The race will be very close.

it doesnt mention the height, so it might not even be the world's tallest tower. and its also been scaled down, so someone change the title. its been said by MEED that it could be up to 500 meters shorter
