I beg to differ ...

Niether Chicago or NY ever made a planned section of the city in a virtually virgin area. Not to say they had no city planning - they both did, but no area was masterplanned with such scale as Downtown Dubai or Kingdom city.

These plans need a centerpiece to help promote sales in the surrounding projects within the new area. That centerpiece being the next WTS helps in this role.

That being said, I think the BK is a fantastic design and a remarkable engineering achievement that could stand alone and I think it will be profitable at some point.
The KT will surely be, as well.

Ray.
Hello Fury,
Although I greatly appreciate your honest opinion I also beg..
I really don't get what your saying with your first paragraph but I do understand the rest...

Yea on order to make an area to make its mula, the skyscrapers etc. you need a centerpiece to work around it. And you have a point. But a centerpiece doesn't need to be that big especially if there's no other high rise skyscrapers in the area. I feel they should move up by height instead of giving the BAM! In a city like that even 1500 foot skyscraper would be a great centerpiece and perhaps less money wasted. My thing is I feel its being but for no reason. Its mostly being use for housing. That's just throwing money in a pit of fire. The Sears Tower and WTC where used for a reason and built a certain heighr to fit that purpose. I know from being in the Sear that its all business ful filling it's purpose in making money and gaining it back. It seems like there doing it for looks if there doing a Megatall wiyh no other high rise. And if you want the looks start with a average size then move up and up then they'll have the looks. And like I said doing it for looks and height is pretty dumb but hey whatever rocks there boat

And as for the burj... Naw not my type of skyscraper. Looks like a tower of cigarettes stacked up.

So, what exactly are a project's requirements for it to be moved from "prep" to "App", and how will this forum confirm that such requirements have been met by the project? Thanks.

Its already Approved (App) For it to be listed as "prep" we need to know that there is work going on at the site of this tower and we need to know that they are actually beginning construction on the tower not just more soil testing etc. Essentially we need pics that prove that this is in the prep stage or information that tells us this.

By standards of this forums:

- any works different than soil testing - Prep
- foundation works (piles construction etc) - U/C

If we'll have confirmation pilling rigs are working on the site we as well can move it to U/C already

But it would "only" take you less than 18 hours to drive the 1300+ km, according to Google maps. I didn't realize just how huge the Arabian Peninsula is until I checked that.

Well, it is a subcontinent with human settlements on both shores (and in the mountains and central oases as well!)

audi arabia is the 13th largest country. it's between africa and asia thats why it quite looks smaller than it actually is. i mean i knew it was bigger than germany, but i thought it was about twice as large, not 6 times as large
