btw I knew about this group trips thing. But thats not actually what would interest me. You need at least 7 people willing to go, and the trip is strictly planned from point to point, moving by bus. Something what you do in North Korea.
It's horrible, yes. Just not on par with North Korea, let's not get ahead of ourselves here lol.

Once the oil runs dry, they will need some other form of commerce to help boost their GDP. It would be wise to allow all non-business/non-religous foriegners like myself into their country.

Developer plans world's tallest building for Baku suburb
A local investor is hoping to build a 185-storey building in Sahil (formerly Primorsk) in the southwestern suburbs of Baku.
The State Committee for Construction and Architecture has not yet received an offical application from the developer, the committee's deputy chairman, Dovlatkhan Dovlatkhanov, told Fineko.
He said that local investor Haji Ibrahim had started preliminary work on the project.
"As far as we know, the investor has already hired an architect, who has designed the initial sketch of the project which encompasses an offshore area in addition to the coastal zone and envisages the construction of artificial islands," Dovletkhanov said.

"The construction of a 185-floor building in the Baku settlement of Sahil is technically feasible. More detailed information will be provided after the fully developed project has been reviewed by specialists of the State Committee and the Ministry for Emergency Situations's evaluation committee," Dovletkhanov said.

A source in the Emergencies Ministry confirmed to Fineko that the project would be technically possible, but questioned whether it was needed at all.

Azerbaijan has experience of creating artificial land mass. Back in 1925 Lenin’s Cove, as it was then known, in Bibi Heybat was filled in.
If Haji Ibrahim's project sees the light of day, the Baku (Sahil) skyscraper will be taller than the world's tallest building - the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

If you don't know .. less than 50% of the GDP in Saudi Arabia is from oil and here are the sources to shut your mouth (2011 , 560b$)

I wonder if it plans to top the Kingdom Tower. The article mentions it will be taller than the Burj Khalifa with no mention of KT

Noticed that too. Although floorwise it would be quite superior to the Kingdom Tower - 185 vs 156. But hey lets wait with celebrations in case if this is another fairy tale

A tower in Baku would be a lot more plausable than the one in Port Sudan And it would only strengthen their 2020 Olympic Bid.

156? Why such a low number? The building will be at least 175 floors, but most likely somewhere 200-215

we actually don't quite know how many floors in the spire are even accessable or usable and i think a big part of the spire is also just spire and has nothing much in it, similar to burj khalifa. but i think we can guess 190+ floors and be on the safe side

Hi 1772.
- hilarious ...

The level count could very well be the same as the BK :
- as Killer posted there is a taller spire than the BK
- the individual level heights could be taller as well

Ray.
