yes 5 years that means that 2016 is also counted and it is being built in 2016, which means it will be finished in 2017...

wrong!
From the same date to the same date:
2012-2013 one year
2013-2014 two years
2014-2015 three years
2015-2016 four years
2016-2017 five years + three months.

By that logic if it took 1 year to build it would be completed already.

1 year = 2012, it's 2012 now.

So am I Patrykus. The situation is the complete opposite of Nakheel Tower, in 2010 Dubai went into a debt-crisis of 200 billion euro's, while at this time Saudi Arabia has one of the worlds largest trade surplusses, running in the thousands of billions of euros (at least 1500 billion) so there is no financial problem at all, and Jeddah Kingdom Tower will rise! And becomes a man-made wonder of the world!

The actual trade surplus is less than 150 billion dollars, not 1500.

krkseg1ops was the one whom corrected him on the right numbers, but still used 1500 billion.

Well the US has a national debt way into the trillions of dollars (of course 1 trillion = 1,000 billions), so it's not totally stupid to talk about numbers this big.

Not 1500 billion, but indeed ""just"" 100 billion for the year 2011

Hi everyone! Sorry for the confusion caused by the amount of money I mentioned in regard of the Saudi trade surpluss over the past year: It's indeed about 100 billion euro's (120 billion US$) NOT 1500 billion. Nevertheless it's incredible a single country having this surpluss. Compare this to the US, where a -very rough estimate- an annual deficit of 500 billion dollars exists... These figures are the difference between earning and spending seen over 1 year of the respective countries. Still standing is the prospect Saudi Arabia has a very solid financial state, easily capable of financing Jeddah Kingdom Tower. Given the fact the Burj Khalifa is an immense succes and a world-class #1 tourist destination, Jeddah Kingdom Tower is bound to be a huge success. At BK you have to book one week in advantage of the elevator ride to the top, or you'll find it sold out. I was surprised seeing the large amounts of people contantly moving in and out of the tourist-elevator. It's the top-attraction of Dubai, and just imagine what a Tower 200+ meters taller will look like. Just incredible.....
I'll be in Saudi Arabia in 2017 when the project is completed and enjoy the stunning view at sunset watching over the Red Sea... Something to look forward to!!
