@ Buyckske Ruben The "ONLY" difference between the West tower and this one are aproximately 800m. A floor or/and structural concept for a 440m tower canīt be used for a 1000m+ tower.

I just wanted to say that indeed. There has to be a drastical redesign but otherwise I don't see this build.

I hate to say this but unless they are going to design the top residental part as one floor per unit, there will not be enough space to put elevators. The design is just too thin to support the demanding space for elevators. I don't get it! They were however smart enough to put the office section at the very first floors and the hotel next. I also, think the building would sway too much to be livable at the top. If you look at Nakheel Harbour Tower design, it seems so solid and it allows the wind to blow through it so it keep a firm setting. I am completely for supertalls like this but I am very concern about the design. I think they could make it alot better. I also do not think that Kindom Holdings have the expertise like Nakheel does in designing tall buildings.

I feel a threat from nakheel tower though, that they're gonna go with 1400 metres plan like they mentioned before. People are thinking its roughly about 1150 metres based on the comparison size with burj dubai, but Nakheel might go for 1400 metres.

This shape fools the eye when looking from below the building: It would look like it goes up to infinity.

Dubai will have the 4 tallest buildings on earth , like no other skyline in the world!
1. Nakheel Harbour & Tower 1km+ Prep ‎
2. One Dubai - 850m+ acquiring land
3. Burj Dubai - 819m U/C
4. Anara - 650m Pro
I do not think any of the three towers - Nakheel Harbour, 1 Dubai, Anara -still waiting for construction to start will be completed as scheduled. It seems that Dubai has extended itself financially as much as it can. See http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...LIA&refer=home for the complete article.

While Dubai's economic model ``has proved successful to date, cumulative liabilities are currently rising faster than investments are able to generate returns,'' Moody's senior vice president in Dubai, Philipp Lotter, said in the report. This ``necessitates a clear understanding of wider implicit federal support when rating key government-backed corporation.''

Moody's expects a ``high level'' of support from Abu Dhabi for the ``most important'' publicly-owned companies in the U.A.E., Tristan Cooper, Moody's Middle East sovereign analyst, said in the report.

A spokesman for the Abu Dhabi government declined to comment on whether the emirate would assist its neighbor in meeting its debt obligations.

the question (who would want to go to Saudi/Jeddah)pops up a lot in this forum! I think people are considering the "Dubai model" when they ask that question!!
there is a huge different, the end product in the Saudi market is like most countries, planned and designed for locals while Dubai's is aimed toward foreigners. so bringing the issue of foreigners is irrelevant here!

one more thing, Saudi Arabia is the biggest foreign investment attractor for the year 2007 in middle east and north Africa, so the question (who would want to invest in there) is outdated in my opinion

about the tower, it is simpler than what we have anticipated for sure but there is only so much you can do to address all the engineering issues when you are building such a tall building!
i like how it looks like it is going to infinity when you look at it from the ground

I know the Tower has only just been offically anounced but have any dates been given for the earlist stages of construction such as land clearing, preparing to begin foundation works yet? Also what does the site look like at the moment, are we lucky enough to have a forumer who lives near by?

IMO the design is so simple for a iconic structure.

Oh so it's in Ubhur? That'll sure drive property prices up. I'd buy land now.
