Pakistan, sounds ridiculous. The tallest buildings there are the Dolmen City twins at 210m. And they are not so good looking. But still there are not many cities as big as as Karachi with a smaller skyline.

Why is the antenna still counted in 1WTC's building height on SSP?

Kingdom Tower might be one of my favourites in the world, not for height, but for gorgeous design!

The burj Kalifa already cheated us with this cheap trick, and I really don't want to see more supertalls, "cheating" their way to the top. First and foremost this is a BUILDING, and the purpose of a building is to HOUSE PEOPLE so if you claim to be building a structure that is 1000m, than I want a floor at at-least 990m, otherwise all you have is a 650m tall building, with a ridiculous antenna on top.

SSP's definition of building height is clear: spires count, antennas don't. Why should 1WTC receive a special treatment?

SSP's FAQ
Quote:
How is official height determined?

The official height of a building is the maximum of the roof and/or spire heights.

If a building does not have a spire, such as the Sears Tower, then its official height is its roof height. If a building does have a spire, such as the Petronas Towers, then its official height is its spire height.
So Sears Tower's antennas don't count, but 1WTC's count???

If you look at the diagram above, don't you think it's ridiculous that 1WTC is positioned before Busan Lotte Tower and Chow Tai Fook Center?

why are you trying to argue it..we all know it hasnt been determined whether its part of the building or not.. does it bother you that much if its there for a little longer? are you going to cry? i have a new box of tissues if you need some

oh and another thing, thats like saying Nanjing Greenland Financial Complex shouldnt be taller then the sears? dont you think thats ridiculous to..let me guess no? because its a chinese skyscraper so no one bothers to start an argument over it...

It's just strange: in the past it was always pretty clear that spires count and antennas don't.
Now they changed 1WTC's spire to an antenna and all of a sudden there is a need to to discuss the matter thoroughly...

...and thanks, but no, i have my own tissues.

Eliminating this integral part of the building’s design and leaving an exposed antenna and equipment is unfortunate

So what if the spire on Kingdom Tower is mostly empty space? It looks awesome. It's still a major structure, too.

That sky-terrace = droolage. Also, while it's just about at the top, I thought it was said that the sky-terrace was not the final floor. Say it's at 157F but the tower's highest floor is ~160 or 163. The floors could even go higher if the design has room for it. Now granted, the angle to create that SSP diagram at may be a little misleading but the KT looks wide enough to even have very small floors all the way to 750m or so, much like how BK has botique offices from 136 and up.

But without just lopping off the spire to a slant at an abrupt flat roof, to put floors at 1KM, let alone a ratioed spire about that, the footprint of the base would be to be quite large.

Ok fine, whipped this up in Photoshop in a few minutes. The scale was locked and I just went up until the terrace is at ~1KM. As you can see even if the concept of the slanted / buttressed design held up, the tower would then have nearly a 600m spire and be 1.66x as wide...ish. IE, HUGE. But a neat comparison for sure.
