Oh true Russians does that too. Red carpets, gold shovels and perfectly shaped piles of "initiation sand"

It is me who updates it, though because I am not in Jeddah, I need to rely on people who are there.

I plan to go there in the next years as the KT will rise.

Web Cam

Hey Everyone, Maybe we all should get mailings going to Earthcam to get them to set up a few cams so we can watch this construction move along then have the cams go down for a few weeks then tease us by having them on one or two days then go out again.

No seriously, we need to have some cam company set some up. What do you all think? It's good to see this going up

And plug them in where? Also, are they supposed to stream the video directly to a satellite in space somewhere, somehow once they find a power source?

What I don't think people understand is there is absolutely nothing at all near the site at this point. There's no houses, no power poles running alongside the road, nothing, zero, zilch. It's the middle of the desert which is why we haven't had any good photos in the past year or so. I believe one user on here said he is about 50km from the site which isn't very practical to travel to just to get pictures of sand. Hell they would have to erect some sort of pole just to mount the cam to
Perhaps someone that is familiar with the area can chime in and tell me otherwise but I've been following this thread forever now and that's what I always hear people saying

^ hello sir

I'm afraid you are wrong.
The area around it has electricity and other infra structure components, plus is not outside the urban expansion of the city, as u can see in google earth the cost line around it is totally filled with beach resorts. With a good wide boulevard around the site and you can clearly see that the urban expansion has expanded further towards the north in compare to the site.
They could put cameras there and it could broadcast to the Internet directly from the site.
On the other hand, they could put the cameras on that rod on top of the 2 floors portable cabin ( I actually though of that when I was there.
The actual problem over here that the site is very big, fenced and the whole activity is in the middle , it actually take u from the gate to the activity area around 10 mints walking, so don't expect to see that much of photos and update.
I actually live about 5 Km away, and have my access to the site, but still I can't go there regularly because of my working hours. And I know 2 guys who live less the 2 km away from the project site.
I'll try my best to keep you guys updated as soon as something happens on site I'll go and take photos for you, at the same time i'll try to arrange a regular weekly visit to the site.

I'm sure the contractor or others involved in the Project are setting up a few cams for a Tower like this. Hopefully one of them is an SSC user.

Thanks Rody!! Boy how things have changed in the last year. A year or two ago we couldn't find a single person that was anywhere near the site to give us updates on whether they were pushing dirt around or not. Everybody said it was almost impossible to access the site.
I sure am glad I was wrong then because I would love to see a live feed camera or regular photo updates on this. Hopefully you are able to feed our addiction with regular photos at the minimum. We are counting on you now Rody....you are the man in Jeddah land

Unless China unexpectedly pops something out!
I won't hold my breath until "Sky City" finishes though, but if it does...
