nice vid, but anyone tried to count the exact number of floors in this tower from the video? I failed by the way.

I tried starting from the lobby to the very top, it is approximately 250, but my margin for error is around +/-20. I was thinking of making still photos of each section and marking every floor for an accurate count. But never got around it.

Version 2

Floor count.

Alternative Energy Generation ~70
Residential Tier 4 ~26
Residential Tier 3 ~30
Residential Tier 2 ~30
Residential Tier 1 ~22
Hotel ~24
Office ~40
Lobby ~5

Total ~247

And from here we can make the following assumptive conclusion. 4m/5m/6meters per floor.
4m*250f=1000m
5m*250f=1250m
6m*250f=1500m

nice work Avangard, presuming that the model shown in the video was the final and proper design. We know that it is certainly not gonna be a 1,608m tower, but in the region of around 1200m.

The only worrying fact from that count is that the Alternative Energy Generation area may not be accessible for everybody, which in comparison to Nakheel's observation deck (almost at the top) will make the Kingdom Tower slightly less attractive, and will be yet another battle lost to Dubai.

1001m tall?

Hi everyone. Some of you may remember last year (or perhaps earlier this year - I can't remember), I asked on the Burj Dubai forum 'Does anyone know anything about a 1001m tall tower that is cone shaped?' No-one knew anything about it at the time and I forgot about it.

I used to work at Arup in London (I'm a structural engineer) and I saw large colour posters and floorplans on the walls in one of the meeting rooms. These showed a tower 1001m tall which was formed as cone shape. The posters just said 'Kingdom' on them, so I had no idea what the building was or where it was proposed for. I asked a few people at work and no-one knew what it was (but it's a big office of about 300 people and only knew the people on my floor).

It turns out that what was on the posters was identical to the design that now appears on the preceding pages and appears to be the proposal for Jeddah.

I had completely forgotten about this project until AltinD reminded me when we were discussing Dynamic Tower. I'd ignored this thread becuase I just assumed it was all about the older proposal which I thought was ugly.

Anyway, if you guys are guessing about the height, I can tell you that I saw the renders at Arup and they clearly said 1001m on them.

Sorry for not posting on here earlier. I tend to only check the Burj Dubai thread and occasionally the Dynamic Tower and also Parc1 (one of my own projects when I was at Arup). There's always too much work to do!

we all know it's not going anywhere near 1500m. also it's mostly Residential which the floors are not that tall. also its mainly Residential which has smaller floor heights

first of all the mile high tower is now legend, call it kingdom tower.

Kingdom tower is the newly designed mile tower and the kingdom tower will be somewhere around 1000m and never 1608m or even above 1300m

When is it gonna be built? we have to wait and see and we'll hear from Kingdom Holdings for the official news on that.

I don't think I heard any official news on the exact location, dating of construction and everything else from the Kingdom Holdings.

no no thats very WRONG.

one canada square is almost as tall as eiffel tower when its supposed to be 100m shorter.

Petronas tower should be much less than half way up the burj dubai (only by roof) But it looks like its about 550m tall.

and finally the kingdom tower should be about 190m minimum to 300m maximum taller than burj but the diagram shows the kingdom tower at about 2500m tall. Clearly someone edited it.
