I was wondering that if it's built so far away from any kind of city establishments, will it actually have sewage system or is the soil just like in most of Dubai, being unfit for that ?

What's the concern? Is there any reason to think in most of Dubai there's a problem with sewerages? I don't think so, having all my experience in Dubai.

I can't believe this is actually happening. I'm not very optimistic so I'll just wait until we see some real progress here.

That looks like what might be the core and given the shape, looks like it will top out when they end off one of the 'shards' or whatever they're called.

Yes, saudis kind of scared of the skyscrapers, esp. the tallest of all. Because many muslims have a superstition, that the very moment the tallest tower on the Middle East is built, an armageddon is imminent.

Don't think they'd need to trench at all. Info released quite awhile ago already said this tower is to be built without basements / sub-levels due to the high waterline of the Red Sea. As such they'll basically compact the land, put in piles, then put the foundation slab (mat) down at grade and build up.

I think he meant a trench ala the old bathtub walls of the WTC complex or where they'd put the rebar cages in for underground walls. But yeah, this project to my knowledge won't have any.

If KT gets a "boost" from the foundation being 4-6 meters thick, I'd imagine landcaping or earth mounds would eventually cover the "1st" (ground) floor there since the foundation is at or even above grade. Unless that means we really end up with a building where the lobby is truly the lowest floor. I'd still think they'd have a level or two of mechanical below whatever level the main lobby is at, though.

But then again I have no inside knowledge or plans other than what this forum's provided so take it for what it's worth.

I read they don't really have sewage and they it's all trucked away. Not sure if that is still true or not.

Yes apparently there is big sewerage problem in jeddah which they started working on only very recently. And that's according to arabnews (not cnn, bbc or any other "biased" news agency). But there wont be any sewerage problem in kingdom tower because the whole district is designed and build from ground up so of course they included such basic facilities like sewerage system.

And you should realize that the second sentence contradicts the first (and also says the same thing I also meant) ..... but of course you won't get it
