Great design, great building in 2 ways! But the reason why it can be built that easily is simple; money, money, money!!! Plus the enormous inovation and development urge to make every dream come true... (if you have money like oi... water)

This large development in landscaping and civilization showing its muscles is almost the reason why the recent era called 'Holoceen' becomes 'Antropoceen' if listen to the scientific view about modern time. A new footprint is in the making...

Yet it is exciting to follow a building like this one because of that 'dreamworld' idea. It is like a sandbox in kindergarten but this time for real.

In the rest of the world money will be spent more carefully... *ahum*

In my land (The Netherlands) space is become more and more scarce but the most people care more about a clear horizon than a open landscape with space for nature...

Large areas with boring and ugly industrial and commerce are growing like fungus as well aparment blocks with 2 inches of garden per home.
Beside that, most of Holland is built on 'veen' (weak compost swamp ground) in short terms. There are options; unfortunately they won't try it... No Supertalls in Amsterdam or Rotterdam...

My favourite tower at the moment is WTC1

"The rest of the world's money will be spent more carefully". You have to be joking. Most of the world's money is spent on either; drugs, sex, fancy cars, oversize homes, or the stock market.

You're saying as if Saudis wasn't spending lots of money on those things. Well maybe except drugs because of their medieval laws.

yes, at the moment they're doing piling. after that the foundation slab will be poured above the piles to connect them to each other and creating a strong foundation on which the tower will rise next year.

Piling is a part of the structure so it is in fact being constructed.

I hope with the handful information provided here so far things are going well as planned. Let's agree there is still a lot of things needing clarification.

If this tower was located in NYC, this page would be buzzing like crazy every minute with new news, pics, videos ... I think it is too quite for such an immense tower.

I made a picture of Kingdom tower in NYC a while back. I will go dig it up again.

this building can only be so tall, because it does come together with a whole new business district. since it is outside of the city without much infrastructure finished not many people can visit the site regulary. luckily we have Rody to keep us up to date

I love how you think any criticism of this project must only be a result of jealousy. The autistic atmosphere some users create on this board is really a shame...

What do you want, it's just a 1km tall skyscraper placed in New York.
