The construction of such projects not only contribute to the development of the cities where constructs, also contributes to the development of society and human development.

you have to link to posts not pages. linking to pages only gives the right page to people who have the same forum settings as you

Calculating distances it's pointless. There is no vacuum in between, there is this thing called air that can be filled with water vapor, sand particles or pollution, and you wouldn't be able to see it even from the base, and those charts wouldn't mean sh#t.

So you can't see the Makkah Royal Clock Tower from Kingdom because of the weather? That's sad. But Mecca Tower was ugly anyway.

I guess a few people like it because of its dominance. But to me it only makes it ugly because of its location. If it was in a city where every building was fat and brown it wouldn't look as bad.

Anyway, back on topic.

Yeah. I always thought it would somehow fit in goldish/arabic version of manhattan. It would be kind of arabic version of esb or chrysler. But for the location it is being build it's just all wrong

1) divide the height in meters by 5
2) take the square root
3) multiply by 8. The result is the distance in km.
So for a height of 1000 m:
1) 1000/5 = 200
2) sqrt(200) = 14.14
3) 14.14*8 = 113 km
So that's how far you can see the KT.
Doing the same for the Makkah Clock Tower, say 600m, gives 88 km.
So you would be able to see the tip of one from the top of the other if they were a respectable 113+88 = 201 km apart. That is, with no mountains in between on a very very clear day.
What about the Shangai Tower and Suzhou Super Tower? I mean would it be possible to see one another from th tops of both buildings?

@Kunming Tiger & Munwon, at risk of being totally off-topic:
From the top of Shangai Tower the horizon is 90km away and Suzhou Super Tower is just 76 km so you can see the whole tower, not only the top.
Even any building over 5 floors in Wuxi (city center at 117km, several supertalls over there) is theoretically visible from ST.
But Hangzhou is too far at 165km unless it builds a supertall of 450m.
