Google has not its own satellites mapping the world, it is just collecting data from satellites around the globe. if there is no image provided, because of weather conditions or because the location is not served regulary by high definition satellites the picture will be outdated for quite a while. Jeddah is quite lucky though, Lujiazui is outdated by a lot, Shanghai Tower is not even above ground on their newest satellite image, so some places are a lot worse than this one.

this question was probably asked before and i do already feel stupid asking it, but why is it that we do skip the whole digging a giant hole and rise from there part and instead just pile a foundation and start already pretty much, this building afterall is supposed to have underground floors aswell afterall.

A while ago there was an extensive article published in this thread I commented and underlined some of more interesting bits in this post:

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...postcount=3482

As for not doing excavation it's because the water level is very close underground and they decided to not make excavation to remove the problem of dewatering.

There's a window for that situation.

Nice with a new world's tallest, cool design but why Saudi Arabia? I can't help thinking about the lack of human rights in this country...especially for women, really sad...
Hopefully it will be better in the future!
