It takes two months to get photos from early January on-line? Not very promising, but better than nothing I suppose.

What exactly does "groundwork" for a 1007m tower look like? Can you please post some pictures of said "groundwork" for a REAL 1007m tower. I mean you've seen such work and know what it should look like, right? After all, there has to be a ton of Towers out there over 1007m that we can compare this site to

May I borrow your time machine?

But thanks for the photos! Despite being 2 months old, it sort of gives us a good indication that this project is further ahead now than when those photos were taken

There's really no way to make even an educated guess until we see some serious construction on this site i.e. large amounts of digging.

There will be no digging on this construction site It was announced that they will build it straight from ground level.

I remember reading that as well. The wide triangular base is supposed to minimize the required digging, because it's an incredibly stable, efficient platform.

In essence, the tower will sit on top of the ground, and its sheer weight will keep it planted there. Any lateral forces will be transferred into the ground through the "feet" of the base. Intuitively, this seems crazy, but AS+GG are the best at tall buildings, and I trust their engineering.

Did Burj Khalifa require much digging, or did it essentially sit on top as well?

Not very much compared to other megastructures.

I think it will be completed 2022-2023. First, the piling have to be done. Then, the tower have to rise 1007m (with cladding!)and then they have to complete the interior works of a 167fl building and the landscaping. 9-10 years could be possible.
