Great perspective there! Now we know from history and early photos that the foundation for the Burj was all flat to the same level and built up. But here we have a ~20 foot or so deep central core hole. I wonder if they'll also be filling this up, too? The rebar for piles and layout seems to be too close to suggest any use for a "basement" level. Thus I'd go out on a guess and imagine they'll concrete the hole up, then build an equally thick rebar cage on top of the core like they're doing with the wings right now.

But hey I'm only guessing. Anyone is free to elaborate

If they're concreting both parts, this certainly must hold some record then as one of the thickest mats for a building in history.

Almost daily updates at the moment, great!

I have a question: will the center of the core be solid concrete as well? much like the 3 wings? Because the foundation might be 6-7 meters thick there

Good question Munwon.

I am no engineer but there must be a very good reason to create a void between two levels of the supporting foundation mat which would otherwise weaken the structure. Perhaps the way the load is spread this void plays some crucial role. Although similiar to the Burj, this building is still significantly taller so the direct download would be immense...

Hopefully, an engineer will respond with a view ideas.

I don't see anything out of ordinary there. It might be slightly different from the Burj, but in other supertalls with the same foundations technique, the center of the core has always been hollow/deepper but just like the rest will also be made of solid reinforced concrete.

Though, I am still wondering if the lower sections of the wings structure will actually extend beyound the built raft, just as they did in Burj Khalifa

Difficult to say. I almost would say yes because the edges of the wings are quite wide. The edges in the renders are looking thinner, but could be an optical illusion too. We'll know it in a few months

I'm happy to see that on the site there's more than just sand a equipment. There's actually CONSTRUCTION going on at this site! I really hope this does get built.

1 km, it's amazing. We should probably buy one apartment on the top and looking cloud everyday. It's as tall as the mountain height in my area. That's awesome.

It is only 2014, still 86 more years for even more amazing buildings to be built before the end of this century!

Agree, but I think what he mean is KT will be the best tower of century for its time (around 2020).. And will be passed by another tower many years later

He does not own a A380. He ordered it but then cancelled it or sold it to someone else. Airbus has not yet completed and delivered the plane to the other (new) owner
