Planning the elevators in this building will be a nightmare. Also, what about the winds at the top of the tower? And earthquakes? Even a small earthquake will cause the top of the tower to move from side to side. They might use the Taipei101 technique of putting huge weights at the top of the tower but in this case the top of the tower looks thin and putting a huge weight in it seems quite impossible.

Hi all.

Good to see a shot of some beginnings of prep. This project currently has the best chance of getting going and becoming the next WTS. Nakheel Tower has prep work that is much further along but looks to be near dead right now and Mubarak shows no signs of getting started.

On the damper note the Burj Dubai has none because it gets slimmer at the top - perhaps it is the same for this design. At any rate the people involved will have any wind and siesmic issues in mind.

The condition in Jeddah isn't supposed to be very bad compared to other cities (*ehm*Japan*ehm*) but still the area had a few earthquakes in the last decades, according to this map anyway:

Dubai however seems like an earthquake-free zone.

why would this move to Dubai if Dubai has trouble building its own 1000+ tower?

with this design wont the winds have a huge impact on the structure.
From my very small knowledge it does not us the two tactics formerly use in buildings. The one on the sears tower that makes the structure solid by having 'blocks' or the bd's technique of many cylinders making winds break up on different parts and so reducing pressure.
plz help me understand

they will use force field from a star destroyer so that nothing will go past it, even the wind. This is the new technique so some people might not know about it

Hi all.

well duh ...
"they" build any building just to build it .

Seriously - the area around the Burj Dubai looked close to this only 7 years ago. Look at it now ...

As with any WTS this will be much higher than the surrounding buildings but I'm sure the entire area will look good when completed.
