I believe that to build a Super Skyscraper of such unprecedented height then you got to get the foundation right - I suspect that is why we are seeking such a slow development. I am sure the tower will rise quickly and will reach a third in height by early next year. I am sure the Chinese are planning their own 1KM+ Skyscraper/s as now there seem to be 5-6 skyscrapers in the 2000+ club. Next 3000ft+ then 4000ft - in the next decade I will not be surprised if both the Middle East or China start building the coveted imaginary 1 mile Skyscraper - we are seeing a game changer in this building - Well done Saudi for being bold and brave

Hi all.

Great pile drawing Altin.

It's great to have accurate info during this foundation stage.

Keep it coming ...

Ray.

This reminds me of the Burj Dubai-I mean Khalifa. It's so exciting watching a tower of this size be constructed! Can't wait till it rises!

It seems to me that people are becoming a bit too obsessed with the height of this tower and not focused enough on its beauty. It's a very attractive, streamlined and futuristic tower, and it would be amazing even if it were 500-ft shorter. Yes, size matters. But so does style.

indeed, we shouldn't overlook the beauty of this tower. hight is one thing, but designing a stunning beauty is another!

Well, it has one of the beauty elements, indeed... But just one.

W. Hogarth was the true expert in this question, and if someone disagrees with him, then he has a problem with his very ugly taste.

I really think it's going to be some time before we see a mile high skyscraper. Keep in mind that the Kingdom Tower has about 1,000 feet of spire on it; just to get it to be a 1,000 meters tall.

Is there any technical limitation for the spire being habitable? Or is the floor space too small to be practical?

Exactly! You are so right. I remember you expressing your wrong opinion last year.
Your self-criticism is appreciated though

The floor space is too small in the spire to be habitable especially when you consider that you would have to install something other than a ladder, definitely stairways and possibly elevator which would take up even more space!

Too distant shot to judge what's really going on.

It's clearly visible it's rising above foundation alright. Plus the photographer could still go much closer to the fence.
